San Miguel Elementary School

My kids absolutely love this school and I have 3 kids who attended the school and one is in highschool but thanks for this school for getting him ready for high school. I highly recommend this school

My son is in Kindergarten and we have had a wonderful experience with excellent, caring teachers and staff. His school classes include reading/writing & math in the main classroom, then separate classes for science, music, & art. Also included are free play and wellness breaks, breakfast & lunch, and separate socio-emotional growth learning with the Incredible Years Dinosaur School. Additionally, my child enjoys the after school care with Primetime. We've experienced very great communication with the teachers & we've found that there are lots of opportunities for family engagement. It's been a great experience at Encanto Elementary.

The secondary academic director does NOTHING for bullying. Many students have been bullied relentlessly yet only teachers try to change. When brought to the directors attention she claims there is no bullying and victims are the ones who are wrong! Parents are never informed about conflicts with students and the secondary director Ms. S only brings it up when parents confront her.

We LOVE this school!!! It’s a small school with amazing academics and the best community feel. Faculty and staff know every single student. Most parents know most of the students and families too. I have two energetic boys in kindergarten and first grade. They love going here and I can’t believe how incredible their teachers have all been at warmly teaching them classroom behavior and being responsible for their own education at such a young age. The schools academic performance is incredible and I see the results everyday. The teachers are all qualified, experienced and nurturing. We love the many family activities they have throughout the year too, and the very warm and caring principal! It is such a hidden gem in a great neighborhood.

My son is just finishing his first year here (1st Grade) and we couldn’t speak highly enough about our experience! Kindergarten in the SDUSD was the biggest let down (my child regressed) but thanks to Mr DeVos and the team at La Mesa Dale my son has fallen in love with school again. Not only has his academics improved (168% growth based on iReady testing) but he’s also getting the emotional and social support that all young children need for shaping into great little humans.
