Read what parents are saying about Avocado Elementary SchoolOverall, one of the better schools in the area. Unfortunately, children are allowed to get away with ANYTHING. The whole "gentle parenting" approach does not work in schools. When a student chokes another student and there aren't any consequences.... That's a concern. Admin wants to look good to the district so they don't enforce punishment. Kids are not held accountable for their actions. PTA used to be great and plan engaging events for our school community but it's gone down hill. Hopefully something changes soon or more and more family will be leaving.
Posted by a community member on 4/2/2023Avocado is a diverse school that values community. The open space concept allows the students and staff to build relationships that wouldn't necessarily be formed in a typical school. We love it!
Posted by a parent on 1/22/2020We made a district transfer to this school because we heard our home school wasn't very good. I am beyond happy with Avocado. The staff and parents are very involved. The principal, Mr. Himaka clearly loves his job but takes it seriously as well. He has the students best interests at heart. It's not always about this test scores. It's about teaching children to be leaders and peace builders. Teaching them different ways to use their minds. Wonderful school.
Posted by a parent on 6/9/2018Awesome first year. Mrs DeVos was the best teacher ever. Great students and staff. All around great experience.
Posted by a parent on 7/17/2017Both of my daughters attend Avocado, and we have had wonderful experiences in each grade level over the last five years. The principal, Mr. Himaka, is a strong leader, and the teachers and staff are friendly and caring. The academics include a nice balance of traditional curriculum along with art and music. The open-space atmosphere fosters a culture of respect and collaboration, and the morning Run Club is a great way to encourage healthy habits. We transferred from a neighboring district specifically for this school and couldn't ask for a better experience!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBottom Line Up Front: The principal, Ms. Klant, and her entire middle school staff are simply amazing. We are very grateful our kids were able to experience this school before going to high school, and we highly recommend every Catholic family in the area meet with them before sending their kids anywhere else. Background:Our family has two kids one grade apart. Both kids attended a Reggio Emilia preschool before attending a nearby Catholic school where they attended from Kindergarten through 3rd and 4th grade, respectively. We chose to avoid the chaos of the pandemic and homeschooled for three years through Seton Catholic Homeschool. Towards the end of the first homeschool year, both kids admitted to learning more about their Catholic faith from Seton Homeschool than from their initial Catholic school. This came as a surprise; however, both our kids are good listeners, and well-behaved students, so we trust their feedback. This year both kids decided they would prefer to go back to school and we decided to consider additional options. We sat down as a family with the principal, Ms. Klant, and her middle school teachers and we unanimously agreed to send both kids for their 7th and 8th grade school year. This was the best decision we could have made. Before attending Santa Sophia Academy (SSA) both kids were uncertain about where they stood academically compared to their peers. Now they are both excelling in their studies and are excited to learn and grow. As parents, we can not thank Ms. Klant and her entire staff for their genuine care and support of our children during this pivotal time in their educational journey.Parent Review6mo ago
