Pacific Avenue Elementary School

My child is a current 6th grader and has attended here since Kindergarten. We love this school! They give many opportunities for the children to perform the music skills they have learned here. My child is in choir, plays trumpet and piano for several years now and even is in music tech.

It is crazy how much this school has changed. When I use to come hear it was great. Mrs.Sally the principle does not care about anything besides her paycheck. Most office ladies are rude! The teachers are okay.They do not let you be involved much as a parent. They do not notify you when something happens to your child. They never keep you updated. The principle is never available to talk to you.

They refuse to let parents be involved in the school. Administrators practice intimidation tactics when you visit your child’s class by following you and staring you down in the classroom. There is no PTA and they refuse to let any parents join the booster club, only teachers who report to the principal are on the booster club. They lie to your face and blame the school district for lack of action when the responsibility sits with them. This school is rated a 4 for a reason, and it’s only going to get worse since they don’t care to let kids excel past the average level that is being taught. They hind behind the outline of the Avid program as though it is the answer to their lack of teaching skills but refuse to accept GATE programs and have classes for students to grow faster.

Teachers and principal really care about students. Today I walked in on the principal talking about how she reached out to companies to get items donated for the kids to learn to build, and heard a teacher explaining how one of the students house burned down the night before and she went and bought them clothes. The overall attitude is one of caring for the kids.
