Golden View Elementary School

We LOVE this school! We have twin 2nd graders here and our experience has exceeded our expectations. The teachers are fabulous, we had Connally & Conton and can't say enough wonderful things about both of them. We transferred here from our 'home' school to this school because we liked the FARM, the focus on Environmental Science and the small student population. Parental feedback is listened to (free summer school for ALL--thank you), the staff is very nice, and the principal (Lori Florigan) seems to care about the students and families. And it has a FARM! The farm is so special and unique. What a rare opportunity for our "beach kids" to get this type of "country" experience. My kids love going here, and they are thriving! I am so thankful for that! Its too bad more families don't consider a school like this, with excellent parent reviews, instead of just going by the rating number on the website.

I love this school! The principal sets the right tone, the teachers are amazing, and it has a farm! I moved to this district so my daughter could go here, and I am so glad I did. They are supportive, make education fun, and include family in regular events. Parental feedback is listened to, the staff are accommodating, and the school is well organized. They find the right balance of innovation and traditional methods for this age group, and the farm is a unique and precious opportunity for kids to get practical experience and environmental education. My daughter loves going here, and I am so thankful for that!

I absolutely love golden view and wish I had found them sooner for my son !Yes they are a smaller school but the layout of the school and entire dynamic is so much better .All the classes are somewhat connected and they treat each other somewhat like a big family .All kids are loved and treated well.My son came from Harbor view where he had been since pre k to 3rd grade and was still at the kindergarten level academically.After the pandemic and a move which put us in the golden view perimeter he is now about to move on to middle school and is almost at 5th grade level within a year !They also have a farm and bird area where they teach them things like farming vegetables, recycling,composting caring for the animals and different life skills you can't get anywhere else around the city now days. They provide them their own job on the farm which gives the kids a sense of responsibility and ownership.I just can't express to anyone enough how special golden view is and what it has done for my son will be forever appreciated and cherished .If you have the opportunity to send your child here take it as you will not regret it .

My daughter and son went/go to this school. They school is really amazing and engaging. It is an environmental science school which is one of the things that we love about it. My children learned about the environment, growing vegetables/ fruits and also how to care for animals. My daughter loves the principal Mrs. Florigan. Mrs. Florigan is very sweet and she knows every students name which is a tough thing to remember but she takes the time to learn. We have been in other school districts before but none of them have compared to OVSD. The type of education my children have and are receiving here compares to private education.

I attended Golden View Elementary School in the early 2000’s and I’m so thankful my son is able to have the same experience as I did. Golden View is such a great school with wonderful teachers and staff, family events, and the farm.The Special Education program is great, they have a lot of extra help and resources.My son is in Kindergarten and has already learned so much this school year. He loves the teachers and has made a lot of friends. I l like how they use a reward system to encourage good behavior. I highly recommend Golden View.
