High Desert Montessori

My son attended kindergarten and first grade. His k teacher was cruel. she took away the kids snack time(they ate at home at 7:00am, no lunch until noon)she used isolation(nobody talk to so and so)She marked report cards without even knowing the students. the principal supported her bad teacher. subs made rude commentsand still able to sub. My son was reading two years ahead since kindergarten, he just roamed around the classroom. they had not trained him on the centers he was interested in. But I heard from other parents that the other k teacher was a treasure. My son had already made friends and didn't want to change half through the year.First grade was better. There was a crazy aid/cafeteria lady threatened the kids, then denied it when I turned her in. You also have to donate 300$ or 300 hours. They didn't have enough for me to do when I took vacation days to volunteer. When I complained about them serving peanut butter sandwiches for 2 weeks, the office staff wouldn't look up at me when I came in.I liked the way they had young authors celebration and a spelling bee, also historical figure day at halloween.
