I have a MIXED review for this school. It's a beautiful school on the outside in a beautiful neighborhood. The swimming pool looks more like a kiddie pool than a high school pool. They shortchanged the students in this area. They have NO lockers for the students. The average students carry back packs all day long of 30lbs and more if they are athletes. My child wears 2 BACK PACKs, 1 in the front, 1 in the back. She is already having shoulder problems. The lunches are low budget super loaded with carbs. My teen is committed to take her food to school because their meals are so UNHEALTHY, they serve carbs, plus carbs loaded with carbs. I have dropped in at the school multiple times and the staff are polite and welcoming. The teachers are very good. They seem to handle problems with teens right away. Love that. I would recommend this beautiful school to find the balance of beautiful in all the areas.

A lot of discrimination towards certain ethnic groups.

My son was at CHS for 10th-12th. The first year was GREAT! He made honor roll (a first for high school) and met some great kids! Junior year he dealt with a frequent hassle from a few kids, so we finished the 2nd semester with independent study. I was thankful that before we left, the principal showed great concern for my son's issues and I was pleased to see that by the time he returned for Senior year, the trouble makers were gone. He told us that had we come to him sooner he could have dealt with it promptly. As proof to that philosophy another girl was having trouble and her tormentor was promptly expelled. A couple gripes are: it has been a bit of a bummer dealing with the teachers on strike this year. I am guessing this was a big factor in the pointlessness of their online grading system that they would occasionally use and then not…so you never really knew what the grades were. I hear that there are more girl fights than boys and administration forms take an odd amount of time to get to your house (one letter dated 4/19 got to my mailbox in early May). Other more positive thoughts are the sports program is fantastic, the campus is really nice, my son had some great (and not-so-great) teachers, and for a public school it really does have some credible students who are accepted into ivy-league colleges! In all, a really good public high school.

Our daughter has been attending Christopher High School for 3 years. We have had a great experience. The staff is wonderful and they have an awesome sports program. There is also a wide range of AP classes available. It's a beautiful school and a great education. Go Cougars!

My daughter graduated in 2013, but I just had to post about how well she did here. She attended for only a year and a half after we moved from San Jose. She was on the field hockey team and was able to quickly move up to the varsity team. The staff was instrumental in helping us apply for college, which we are so thankful for. She is now attending her second year at Cornell University. Thanks CHS!
