Fern Drive is a wonderful school, if your child has zero types of learning disabilities or has an outstanding home life. The staff cannot seem to point out forms of abuse? I had went to this school, and unfortunately was under an abusive circumstance at the time. I had little to no sleep, a crammed home life, and the teachers did little to nothing but send me to the on-site counsellor. I remember seeing a girl, who had eventually opened up to me about her own abuse, get put outside of a teacher’s classroom, absolutely bawling her eyes out because she couldn’t finish her work at home because of her circumstances. She had apparently gotten her lunch break and recess taken away, which from my understanding is a rather cruel thing. The principal is wonderful, but the staff is one of the worst groups I’ve seen in a while.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of support from my children have received at Golden Hill, particularly when it comes to bullying. Despite multiple reports and concerns raised, the principal has failed to follow through or provide any real reassurance that these issues are being addressed. There is a clear pattern of dismissiveness, leaving parents and students without the support they need. Additionally, the principal's behavior towards students is concerning. My children have witnessed instances where they are being yelled at, creating an environment of fear rather than one of encouragement and safety. This is unacceptable in any school setting. Every child deserves a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment, and unfortunately Golden Hill Elementary is falling short. I sincerely hope changes are made to prioritize student well being and ensure that bullying and academic support concerns are taken seriously.

Both my children attended Hermosa from kinder through 6th grade. This was our last year with our youngest child and it certainly didn't end how we planned it with the Covid-19 shutdown. But the teachers and staff were on top of it when it came to distance learning and great communication. We are so pleased with Hermosa Drive and truly thankful for the superior and caring educators as well as the effective PTA involvement. Tons of great memories were made at Hermosa for our family!! My kids are going on to Honors classes in junior high and the Troy Tech program next year. Hermosa teachers gave our children a strong foundation to build on.

I would recommend this school because the administration, teachers and after school lab leadership and staff are supportive and uplifting of all students.

I have been at this school since kindergarten and graduated from 8th grade recently. One major issue at this school is that teachers play favoritism a lot. Throughout my elementary and middle school years here I have seen many teachers either give special attention or disregard other students. Especially the musical theatre teachers, I was in the musical theatre program for 6 years, they play favoritism and choose students who have ties with the school, or popular students, for lead roles, which has really upset me. This was such a big issue that in my middle school years I started crying because I thought I was worthless even though I tried so hard when practicing for those higher roles. Additionally, the students do disrespect each other a lot as I have gotten bullied before. I have seen students disrespect others due to their size, body type, culture, values, etc and when the teachers or administrators would find out they didn’t do much. Overall, the student environment isn’t the best, but the academics were okay as I was in the gate academy program and the honors program.
