Read what parents are saying about Joshua Chadbourne Elementary SchoolThe school has no leadership at all. Teachers hate the principal and that's why a lot of good teachers left the school. The school is not trying to strive for excellence. They always do the minimum and do not try to prepare your kids for the middle school education. They have substitute teachers all the time because full time teachers are sick of the leadership. Parents are not willing to help the school because there is no leadership. This is the weakest elementary school in the zip code 94539. Bullying is there and a lot of them but the school just brushes them off by sending your kids to inexperienced school counselor who just came out from school. Avoid this school at all costs. Check out Twitter, this school has zero representation compared to other elementary schools. What a shame!
Posted by a parent on 10/17/2022I really do not understand why this school is 8 and not a 10. My son used to go to a renowned private school before going to Chadbourne. He never missed the private school. The teachers are friendly, experienced and students score very well. Since its a very old and established school the infrastructure needs a facelift. They lack diversity as population in this part of Fremont is largely asian hence that is reflected. Chadbourne students always make it to the national math and other competitions. I have seen my son turn from introvert and shy to a moderate extrovert. The teachers, and admins of the school sprint quickly to action to control misbehavior, bulling etc. Fremont is densely populated hence that is reflected in the class size as well. The parent association generously donates to support this school.
Posted by a parent on 5/17/2022I have two kids attending this school and would classify it as a little above average. There is no bullying and the teachers and office staff care about the students, but the classes are really crowded, there are no school trips even after parents donations and after school activities are also lacking. Not to mention the lack of diversity...
Posted by a parent on 5/17/2020The teachers here are passionate; however, the leadership is lacking. There are no funds to this school and parents are asked to donate to the class and to the schools otherwise programs will be cut and field trips will be cancel. The fields trips are either to the Jr High nearby or to the pond at Lake Elizabeth which are not memorable experiences for the kids. The principal would rather build a gate for the teachers parking lot than to fund the school programs, field trips, or better facilities for the kids such as a roof over their heads when they eat lunch so they would be away from the sun and the bees. When asked why they can't fund for field trips, her response was "there is no money for the bus". When we pressed on why there are no money for the schools when other schools nearby have multiple field trips or assemblies, she said that all the schools are funded differently and Chadbourne didn't get the money. The rating for this school went from a 10 to a 8 under her watch. I have two kids here and I am thinking of pulling them out. Everything is relied on volunteers and parents donations. It is time to put the kids back into the priority and give them an elementary experience that they deserve!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn sync with the Montessori method of schooling , the class has 1st,2nd and 3rd grade together and the children depending on their interest and growth curve can move up learning to 2nd or 3rd without having to wait . The older kids are taught leadership as they help the younglings.Compared to other schools , there is light to no homework with most things done in class Itself and their afterschool program has classes such as Lego Engineering , Chess , Soccer , Tennis , Olympic Games and Music . They also have events such as campout , market week where students create and sell their stuff within themselves and honor day where they enact great pioneers from years past.On top of that the fees are reasonable and lower than most private schools in the area.I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who wants to break away from convention and truly focus on nurturing their kid in a loving , meaningful way .Parent Review2mo ago - Our Lady of Guadalupe School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had three children attend Our Lady of Guadalupe School (aka :OLG)--one is now in high school, and two are still there. If I had to describe OLG in only one phrase, I would say the it is a special place. In fact, "a special place" is how other current and former students, parents of students, faculty and former faculty have most commonly referred tp the school as well when we've discussed it. The school is small but has energy and a sense of community far beyond its size. It is amazing how much it offers for a small school, including a Chess Club, Choir, school band (and Music and Art classes as part of the curriculum for all students), and a wide variety of extracurricular sports through the CYO. There is even support for students with learning disabilities (although if your child's special needs are more severe, of course, you will need the services of a public school). One nice traditional OLG has is "Faith Families" in which students from different grades meet monthly in small groups so that older students are encouraged to care about younger ones. By the way, another wonderful thing about OLG is that it returned to fill-the, in-person learning a full year before Fremont Unified schools did so! That saved our family's sanity not to mention our children's educational progress. You do not need to be Catholic to atteOLG also offers reasonably-priced before- and after-school care, and even if you pay the full cost of tuition, it is a bargain compared to any other private school, religious or not, in the area. However, if you are worried about the cost, OLG also offers good sibling discounts if you have more than one child enrolled and also offers scholarships and financial aid.I am saddened that the previous principal, who was there for several years, contributed in a major way to the decline of enrollment of the school, which it is still recovering from. She was simply a deeply unpleasant, unkind person, and she turned off a lot of parents. (We loved the teachers and other aspects of the school so much that we kept our children enrolled despite her.) However, the good news is that the current principal is excellent--she has also been a teacher at the school for several years and has her own children enrolled there, so she truly cares about and is passionate about the school and its students. I strongly encourage anyone looking for a safe, caring alternative to public school to check out OLG.Other Review10mo ago - Kimber Hills Academy
