My daughter went to Dudley from kindergarten to the first week of her 5th grade year. I found out the was being bullied by the same boy that had bullied her the year prior. She went to the staff and was told to ignore him. I was told that they could not suspend him for being a jerk. Her 4th grade year her class had 6 different teachers. Last year which was her 5th grade year, once I was informed of the bullying continued to happen and now it was 2 little boys calling her names and staring at her in class, I went to talk to the vice principal, she said that they would investigate... I felt that they had not solved the problem the year prior so I was moving her, she was so upset, she told me I just want to change schools... the same day that they said they would investigate, the counselor had a sit down with the 3 kids, my daughter and the two boys that were bullying her. One of them apologized and told her it would never happen again, the counselor then sent him back to class... this counselor then told my daught and the boy that was bullying her that if they had any more issues that they BOTH would be suspended..... WHAT!?!?! So what I understand is that she is not to tell on him if he continues to bully her. I put all of this on the transfer form, and had the principal sign it the next day. The principal had the nerve to tell me that we don't know if he actually said that, and did her best to over talk me, until I told her to stop. My daughter loved going to that school until she understood that there was no one there to advocate for her. The principal made me feel that no matter what that she would NEVER support black children... I hoped that it wasn't like that but for real, the counselor let the other little boy go back to class, but kept the 2 black kids to threaten them with suspensions. The way that principal tried to argue with me she was not professional at all..

Moved from Auburn but continued to drive my daughter so she could finish out her year at her beloved school. I feel so luck to have found Spinelli because the front office/faculty are extremely knowledgeable & also helpful. The overall feeling here is very welcoming & engaging!

So many bullies in this school, nothing being done about it besides a little talk with the student. My son has dealt with bullies in kindergarten! A child should never have to deal with that at the age of 5-6. I had a kid scratch my sons face and the teacher failed to inform me of the incident. My son was so scared to go to school he would cry when I dropped him off int he morning .Teacher said my son informing her of the bullying was him “complaining”. It is your job to protect and teach our children, if you can’t do that correctly please don’t teach. I’m at the point I’m going to have to maybe pull him out of school and enroll him somewhere else.
