Otay Elementary School

I love this school, I went to this school and is amazing.Staff are nice, teachers are there for students education.

I am very happy either way the experience I had with this school, they helped my son who has autism a lot. All the staff that worked with him were very kind and patient and I am grateful for that. However it was a bitter sweet moment when I was told he had to be transferred to a different school based on his IEP. It’s sad to have to leave but for the short period that he was here I am grateful thank you the team of teachers and specialist that worked with my son.

My child is currently attending this school, I can’t tell you how this school has been disappointment after disappointment since the first day of school this summer. The first day of school we had no idea what to expect , principal never sent out any messages days prior to school starting. First day of school lacked excitement towards students returning from staff. My child was being targeted by lunch staff and getting singled out day after day to the point where she got out of school and told me she was sat by herself during lunch again (mind you this was day 4 consecutively) while all her classmates sat together and she had no idea why that happened..if my child is getting separated constantly there should have been a phone call or some sort of communication from school… never received it. I found out through my child. I requested to sit in on a lunch and I was denied that. The principal said she wanted an opportunity to see what was happening before we took that step, I allowed her to do her job… as she did get to the bottom of it on my 3rd interaction with her about the same issue when I threatened to go to the district office she finally thought of the brilliant idea to talk to staff and let my child be when it comes to eating. Apparently staff was separating her and forcing her to eat because she was distracted while sitting with classmates, mind you that was never a concern of mine so staff took it upon themselves to make that decision about my child without consulting me about it. My child dreads going to school…teacher has low moral no excitement. Currently I’m disappointed in the school because I was just told there will be no winter performance as far right now … as a parent with a child who is just starting out their school journey we look forward to these events. Oh one last thing, I’ve been to many school where I see staff interact and mingle with parents..this school is totally opposite you don’t see one staff member out until the bells rings..they don’t make an effort to engage with parents when parents are present on school grounds. We have yet to hear of any volunteer opportunities … the walls in the hallway were student work is usually displayed are bare. I just feel staff could make school more inviting … if you were to ask me if I recommend this school…ABSOLUTELY NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILD ELSEWHERE.

Why this school sucks:The music teacher called me disgusting and told me to "back off" because I had a sore throat.The new music teacher is a weirdo. He always puts on the "sigma boy" song for the kindergartners.The school's cafeteria food made me sick. I had diarrhea. I got better when I stopped eating it.The students in my class just fight and slap each other in the classroom.Most teachers don't care about the students.The kids are obsessed with saying brainrot.

My children have been attending Rohr since preschool and I have seen so many principals come and go. My 6th grader just promoted last year from Rohr and I have one more attending Rohr. With their current principal Ms. Reyes, she has done so much to help our school community. What my students love the most is getting counseling from the school counselor, Ms. Bathshe. She has helped us when we were in need by giving us food, clothing, and mental health resources. Not to mention the teachers are amazing! Thank you to ALL Rohr staff for being so helpful and so caring to our community and their students. I am excited to see Rohr continue to grow and excel.
