Great community school! It may not be the best school, but my kids feel safe and always excited to go. They are encouraged to go to school everyday and taught to be responsible, safe and good citizens. Since it's not a big school, it's easy to connect with the teachers and they are more focused.It's a plus that my kids are in the gifted program.

I had a horrible experience with the principal and my son’s kindergarten teacher. He was bullied by both because he would poop his pants. The teacher would not allow him to use the restroom forcing him to pee his pants many times. When I confronted the teacher she mad excuses I escalate the situation to the principal and he took the teachers side. My child would come home crying. One day my child asked the principal if he could help him peel his orange the principal threw his orange on the trash can and said No! I got upset and called him out on it and he denied it at first but then said well it was time to return to class anyways. I had to go to the district and demand for my children to be remove from the school. Horrible experience horrible school!

Our family's experience with Catskill is that of meeting new family members and a positive community of nurturing individuals. The campus does not have a soccer or baseball field but they do utilize what they can and offer additional classes such as coding, ballet, acting, etc. They address raised issues with quickness and everyone is always warm and welcoming at the office. It pains to move homes and my kids are especially sad about leaving our Catskill family. We are Asian but my son speaks Spanish now, thanks to the dual language program--the teachers have a lot to do with this in my humble opinion. My son who has autism received great support from the IEP team too and we were assisted in getting him the best possible education and help he could get. Thank you for all that you do for our kids and families, Catskill!

I was a former student at this elementary school a while ago. The teachers at Del Amo are very supportive and encourage their students to learn. I must say I had a great time and I learned a lot from that school. I suggest any children around the area go to this elementary, it’s worth it.

I loved this school. I would sleep in class and sometimes I would do something deviant and it really set me up to not make mistakes until I got to college. They used examples when I was attending so people were getting standards and were told to use the bathroom two or three times and they even let us get meals on wheels. Two siblings became friends with my sister and I basically for life. They had some 20 something years old to help them and they were more insightful and had very respectful street knowledge. The ladies seem like they work hard or taught values hard. The nicest ones was Miss May and Miss Jennifer, the owners. The playground is always changing just get used to it. My niece went there because she was having some issues learning I don’t know if it’s a place for that. I know I’ve been in magnet since I left going to the third grade. They allowed me to skip two grades there I was a late start Baby and I was fine with just skipping one. When I got to public magnet courses everyone was noticing how easy work was for me and I was one of the top students from the fourth grade till the fifth grade. I would sleep a lot but I actually learned. I went to their daycare so I grew up around children that were all different. I would say bullying is very rare and The teachers didn’t do wrong by us. I’m still impressed by the amount of culture they taught us Spanish language and Native American culture. A lot of kids just don’t have what that school can offer and I’m confident that their courses are legitimate. They were also training ballerina students for Juilliard. I never felt pressure when I wasn’t doing things correctly I feel like they reward people for those activities. I was only taught one lesson about constantly coming to school with food and not sharing my popcorn and quoting a bad movie and throwing sand over the wall. I think the school was reasonable if I had a crush that crush was literally a child. I would sleep a lot I didn’t have any type of adult feelings. I got to do a lot of stuff with my sister and at some point we were in the same class. The environment was so calm I was able to listen with my head down and gently fall asleep. I really appreciate their abilities-testing like coloring and cutting things and spelling. Your child is simple , my niece did learn a bad word but she also had an incredible sense of moral. There’s definitely only about 20 kids I think so you can’t really get too close or be too far.
