Read what parents are saying about Emery Park Elementary SchoolEmery park never handles bullys. There are so many of them and it gets into alot of drama. They say they will do something about it but they rarely do. Also the homework, i seriosly cant belive the person who came up with this. This just waste kids time. I can go on and on about the problems with this school but i don't really have the time to, one plus side is there are some nice teachers who understands evryone, the rest cause alot of problems. Speaking of bulllys, the school tries to stop bullys but they do a bad job at it. Also the school isnt really safe, there are alot of problems that mess kids up.
Posted by a student on 9/1/2020My child has attended this school since Kindergarten. Currently attending second grade. The school has recently received a new principal who is very involved as receptive to parent concerns. The new principal is much more receptive to concerns than the previous principal. Initially I was concerned about my child not advancing having a teacher who had been teaching for very long and was not current with all the new teaching practices, however my child learned to read and write and excelling academically. He has demonstrated strong liking for math and his teachers have really nurtured that. My child does not like to write but his teachers have encouraged him and by the end of each school year has become much stronger in writing. Emery Park school office staff including nurse are great and do a great job at making you feel like part of a family. We have a strong tight knit community within our school and our PTA is great! They work very hard to organize events for the whole family, this really bring the community together. I am please and plan to have my child there until high school.
Posted by a parent on 8/14/2017Love the location of the this school! Many positive changes need to be made in regards to the administration, Cheerful office staff, a headstrong principal, more parent involvement! Since I last visited the school it was a sad tired school! big disappointment! Friendly smiles is a must when working with the children!!
Posted by a parent on 10/28/2014My children recently left this school and we don't miss the unfriendly office staff or the odd messages left by the principal! The new strict rules meant to keep our children safe actually seem to make it more difficult for full time working parents to be involved. I have however heard my children mention how much they miss the lunch lady, very glad to hear that there is at least one smiling face the children can count on
Posted by a parent on 10/28/2014The teachers kept up with the demands of the state and feds by constantly being trained. Its unfortunate that there isn't enough time in a day to spend more time on having fun while learning. There is lots of homework even in the lower grades and at times its really too much. Parent involvement is needed in more than just the fun events. Knowing what the plans of the school, district , state and federal government are, can really help a parent better understand what their child's current needs are in order to succeed. The principal is open to discuss issues/topics with parents. The staff is committed to providing the best for the children at this school. The environment of the school is clean, friendly and safe. Parents, as annoying as it feels to have to obey by so many rules, try your best to remember that it is all for the safety of YOUR children. Overall I was very pleased with my child's education and I would recommend this school to anyone in that neighborhood. Parents also remember that teachers aren't babysitters and cant possibly teach your child everything, remember you have to also do your part at home.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son began attending Oneonta Montessori after a private preschool, public TK and then a false start at a local private, Catholic Kinder. In short, he struggled to find a good fit. From the first day at Oneonta, however, we knew he had found his home. Ms. Terri was his kindergarten teacher and welcomed him in such a way that made him feel safe, loved and celebrated! His foundational reading skills exploded during Kinder due to the multi-sensory approach. His curiosity about numbers was sparked by all of the fun games and activities that encouraged math thinking. Additionally, his behavioral challenges were mollified as well due to the "keep active minds busy" approach. Ms. Fiona, the school director ,is instrumental in creating a culture of imagination and acceptance and this isn't done in a random way. Teachers are strategic with the curriculum and instruction but lead with the Montessori pedagogy that is so powerful! Our son moved into 1st and second grade with Ms. Vangie who was an example of teaching excellence every day. Our son adores her to this day and every time we pass Oneonta he shouts out a "Hello Ms. Vangie!" to her. In third grade, he rounded out his time there with Ms. Blossom whom he adored as well and grew so much in his maturity and writing skills through her patient and steady approach. Today our son is back in public school and thriving. The foundational skills provided by Ms. Fiona and the academic team at Oneonta have been invaluable and our son loves learning. I feel certain that this is, in large part, due to his rich time spent within the walls of Oneonta. I can't recommend this gem of a school enough.Parent Review2y ago - All Souls Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe language immersion curriculum is nice, and my children having the ability to learn in a second language from a young age was an opportunity we couldn't pass up. However, new administration brought in during COVID is almost comically bad at their job, consistently alienating families who dedicated many hours of free time to supporting the school. Attrition in the upper grades is tremendous, as families get fed up with the treatment coming from school leadership. Not sure what the archdiocese is thinking with such hiring decisions, given this was one of the few Catholic schools in its system that was growing. Would have heartily recommended this five years ago. Now? Stay far away until leadership changes.Parent Review4mo ago - Bell Tower Trilingual School
