Read what parents are saying about Alamo Elementary SchoolAbsolutely no support for the ELD students. No academic progress.
Posted by a parent on 12/18/2020I went here in the 90’s/2000’s and I had two of my favorite teachers of all time here! I know my teachers are retired now but I would like to think that they were mentors to some of the teachers there today! Alamo Elementary was a such a sweet little school that has such a lovely set up for the kids! Also the reading specialist when I went there spent A LOT of time with me and I really appreciate all the extra help I got! From an old students perspective who is now grown and works with educators, I was REALLY REALLY lucky to have gone here!
Posted by a community member on 10/19/2020The teachers do not have a personal approach to teaching. Anyone could read out the district-provided information. They do not support students and everyone is treated as an average national student. Even the report cards are not informative. "The student needs to progress at a rate of 1.1 to achieve results". Is that for a robot? and what is a 1.1 or a 2.0 to my 6 year old child? Is that a proper measurement? I am highly disappointed and do not see why this schools ranks so high.
Posted by a parent on 2/3/2020Both of my boys have had a wonderful, enriching, storybook experience at Alamo School.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDon't believe the score, the school is better than the Lafayette Elementary for example, we have been in both, and only in this one we consistently found teachers that immediately contact us whenever a student has a problem academic wise, not at the end of the trimester when we can do nothing about it. The school is cleaner too.Parent Review2y ago - Walnut Heights Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would like to report Walnut Heights inequitable Covid testing policy’s -absences require a Covid test-the school offers a 3-day PCR test -according to Patricia Otten: kids are allowed to pay $125 for a rapid result test which allows them to come back same-day. Those that can’t afford this test are forced to miss three days of school. To make matters worse, my child got sick from a school event where a parent volunteer provided my child with an irresponsible amount of candy.Parent Review2y ago - Parkmead Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been with PM from kinder through 5th and have been so pleased with our child's education, the teachers, and the staff. Throughout our time, we have experienced first-hand the emphasis and care from teachers regarding our child's social and emotional wellbeing. We received excellent support when we needed to get them caught up to benchmark. The students and staff take pride in their school campus. Parents are extremely involved and we are given plenty of opportunity to volunteer throughout the school year. During the pan.demic and distance learning, the teachers and staff were so dedicated to ensuring students were safe and their learning was as uninterrupted as possible. Our current Principal, Mr. Burstein, has been a joy - he has been so involved and present with the students, keeps parents informed and up to date on all school happenings, and has created such a fun and lively environment for students to learn and grow. We feel so fortunate to be a part of Parkmead!Parent Review1y ago - Rancho Romero Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been attending this school since kindergarten. The elementary program is excellent. How ever, the Jr. High program often lack consists in permeant teachers or substitute teachers, including homeroom teachers and math teachers. PE teachers often sub for math teachers, and they don't have the credentials to teach math. The use of multiple platforms for assignments and grades adds confusion and disorganization. Feedback in writing assignments is rare or completely not given hindering improvement. While there are special advanced programs for some students which there is no clear entry requirements, other students are left without the chance to advance. If your child can improve if given the support an opportunity St. Mary doesn't provide foster that type of an Enviromint which leave no room for improvement. The tutoring program is a complete joke. children with parents or family members working at St. Mary receives preferential treatment and favorite by teachers from projects to awards, even they are not graded harshly as one parent puts it. The lack of organization and favoritism in the junior high program makes it hard to recommend the school, unlike the solid elementary program they have. Furthermore, there's a notable lack of diversity, with only a small number of noon white students. Racism is evident both in the classroom dynamics and in the distribution of awards and responsibilities.Parent Review2mo ago - Tice Creek

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 3 children at Tice (2 in middle school and 1 in elementary). It is an amazing school with incredible teachers and families. My children have thrived here. The middle school is really special given its small size. Academics in the middle school are strong, and the kids are highly motivated and want to learn. It is also a very inclusive and supportive environment. I love having all 3 of my kids in one school through 8th grade (one drop off and one pick up).Parent Review1y ago - Acalanes Adult Education Center
