Not enough support for children to strengthen learning skills. My child constantly was bullied.

Vesey is a school my mom went to when she was young. I went to Vesey when I was a child. I thought this would be a perfect place for my child to also attend. Well, I was incredibly wrong. Vesey has repeatedly failed to protect my daughter from bullying. They do not notify me when my child's been hurt, only after they've dismissed her back to class, am I informed. More than one occurrence of this and a week after my child was punched in the face by an older student, the staff has done nothing they have said they will do. Making excuses why they were busy and my daughter being physically assaulted wasn't a priority. Setting an example that they tolerate bullying and violence. There seems to be a lack of procedures and policies for these kinds of things. The only person that talked to me about my child being harmed was the nurse. No one from administration. So if you want your kids bullied and punched, with staff that goes days before addressing anything, Vesey is the place for you!

My daughter went to this school. And hated it. Its ran like a military school and the teachers humiliate the children as punishment. Lots of theft that the school does nothing about. Principal needs to be replaced, she runs the school like an army base! Kids are so scared of her they ate afraid to report bullying and theft. Plus the teachers call the kids liars and are cruel. They have a few very good teachers but not very many.

We are very happy with our daughter's academic success. We have noticed a positive change in her development. She loves going to school and she loves her teacher.Some parents think that the education of our children is 100% the teacher's responsibility, but it doesn't work that way.Teachers are of great support to us. But it is my responsibility as a parent to teach our daughter not to bother other students. It is my responsibility that my daughter know how to behave in class.It is my responsibility to check my daughter's backpack every day.It is my as well as my daughter's responsibility to comply with homework assignments.A good foundation, respect and education, start at home.We are very grateful to the school for helping us get the best from our daughter. I don't think there are bad schools. I think it's the work of teachers, parents and students working together to obtain the desired academic success.

The teachers and especially the principal need more training on how to handle children with special needs and not toss them to the side like they are trash. My daughter felt like she was a huge burden while she attended this school, and was always too embarrassed to ask for help or to talk with anyone. Instead of assisting us with seeking help for her, they would suspend her and expel her. I thank God that they suspended her because that led us to place her in an excellent school where the staff, including the office staff go above and beyond for their students. Maldonado was a nightmare!!!! I am so glad we got transferred to Miller Elementary School. Thank you for looking out for our baby girl.

I am a Exceptional Education teacher at Johnson and have worked to develop a program that addresses individual student needs. This year I will be working to incorporate a sensory rich environment for students as well as conduct in-service training for the staff and community. It takes the collaborative efforts of a community to develop a strong educational system. I hope you will joins us in taking an active role in education.

My daughter has been attending this school for the past 2 years; she loves her teachers, friends and learning about The Lord. I find the staff to be absolutely magnificent; they are extremely helpful and go the extra mile to help your child succeed. I love the fact that they are teaching these children to put Christ first and to walk in His footsteps. I strongly recommend this school to parents looking for an excellent curriculum and phenomenal staff!
