Read what parents are saying about Shadow Ridge High SchoolIf you come from another state, avoid enrolling your child to this high school. The staff and administrators will go out of their way to make you feel unwelcomed. You definitely know you’re an “outsider” with this place. My honor roll daughter lasted a week. Never in her life did she not want to attend school, until this place. Do yourself a favor and go to American Leadership Academy. You have choices in Arizona, and this school is the best one! My daughter is know loving school again!
Posted by a parent on 9/13/2024I am a sophmore at this school, and all I have to say is. THIS SCHOOL IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. The teachers don't engage with the students past the curiculum and all the students who need extra help get absolutely none other than tutuoring and there is only tutoring once every week, sometimes there isnt even any. This makes it so hard for students who need the extra help to get that help because they never have any time during class because the teachers don't give them a chance to even ask questions. The only thing that the teachers do it blabber about things with barely any explanations. Another thing, the lunchs, the amount of time I've heard of students getting food poisoning from the school food is ridiculous. On top of that the lunches NEVER change. Everyday its the same things, burgers, pizza, nachos, uncrustables, and sandwiches. All of these foods have the absolute worst taste you can imagine, the burgers taste like cardboard, the pizza tastes paper, the nachos taste like plastic, the uncrustables taste like they haven't been touched in weeks, and the sandwiches taste just horrible. So if you are thinking about signing your student up for this school, please DONT. Nobody wants their student to live 4 years of high school when they wont learn anything.
Posted by a student on 9/3/2024Starts too early, “spirit” weeks are too boring, hell; we had a BARBIE spirit week this year, it’s basically ruined spirit weeks for me. The assemblies are trash too, insanely loud and boring. Cafeteria food is trash, the one time mg friend got me a “burger” from here it was more of a disappointment than COD MWII.If you are thinking about taking your kid to SRHS, you need a mental health evaluation.
Posted by a student on 4/14/2024THIS IS THE WORST SCHOOL I HAVE EVER BEEN TO.The teachers here are JOKES. They don't know how to teach, and even if they do, they lack passion and wanting to CONNECT with students. They don't care about the emotional state of your children, and don't care how stressed they are, or how they confused they are. I don't know why half of the teachers here are teaching, some of them admit they hate it. Specifically, the math department here. Not only are half of the teachers cruel, lacking compassion and empathy, and egotistical, they don't know how to teach. The science department throws a textbook in your face, with a note packet that you have to fill out (you can find a majority of them online.) However, there are exceptions, such as Ms.Roberts, Ms.Wenz, and Mr.Moore. They are teachers who are respected by the majority of the school. The students here are robots, they don't talk, they don't have opinions, and if they do, all they know how to do is gossip. Your student will grow up with students who are some of the most dull, uninspiring, and rude jerks that I have ever seen. When I go to this school, I genuinely find it difficult to talk to my peers, cause none of them know how to have a conversation. There is almost no student spirit. Almost no diversity, and even if there is, the school feels segregated by the students. The counselors here are hit and miss, Ms.Brayden is a wonderful counselor from what I've heard. If you want your child to have a high school experience of mean teachers, boring coursework, and dull peers, send them to this school. If I could give this school negatives, I would.
Posted by a student on 12/18/2023This school may be acceptable for kids that don't need a little attention and/or assistance. However, if your child requires a little "extra" like aN IEP or 504 plan, don't hold your breath that the staff will work with you and provide the accommodations needed. I have been reaching out to my son's teachers, counselor, and assistant principal for 3 months and I still have yet to get anyone to take steps to assist my son. They do not care about the kids that need extra assistance. The staff does the bare minimum, and frankly, I question whether or not they are even doing that.DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL IF YOUR CHILD NEEDS EXTRA ASSISTANCE!!!
