Read what parents are saying about Cheyenne Traditional Elementary SchoolWe had a great experience at Cheyenne. Both my daughters started attending Cheyenne in kindergarten. The teachers are wonderful and supportive, and the curriculum is very strong and well-balanced.
Posted by a parent on 1/9/2024My child is a gifted, all "A" student yet absolutely HATES school. My child has HATED school since 2nd grade because of the amount of homework. There has never been any issues with comprehension, but after a long day of learning and working very hard, the amount of homework is overwhelming. We spent sometimes up to 2 hours on homework a night (some of the time was spent trying to refocus) but the attitude towards homework and school has progressed to the point of no return and is taking the joy out of learning. Not to mention, that the kids are worried everyday that they are going to get their card signed bc their shirt got untucked, or they didn't use the correct paper for their homework. The projects assigned, such as book reports, are not realistically age appropriate for them to complete on their own, at least in the lower elementary levels. This system does not work for a child that does not need a heavy handed approach to discipline. So happy that we left.
Posted by a parent on 2/11/2023Do not pursue the school unless your child excels at rote memorization, sit still all day and has no interest in being a thriving, happy child. This is absolutely not a school for boys those several of our friends with girls have also departed.
Posted by a parent on 10/26/2022Teachers range from average to really good. To be fair,, there are a couple of teachers, especially Mrs. Wilson, (Language Arts) who is excellent. However, SUSD in general....If I had kids entering the public school - I would pull the plug and get with a group of other parents and do Home Schooling. The Communist Far Left Funded teacher's union and their desire to indoctrinate children into hating America and becoming obedient liberals needs to be bankrupted
Posted by a parent on 12/6/2021This school USED to be great. I do not know what has happened over the past year and I cannot let Covid be an excuse for the lack of teacher support! There are good teachers here, even great, it’s unfortunate the terribleones are tarnishing their reputation! I believe this school speaks so highly of themselves and it is making their staff lazy. “ The Harvard of Elementary Schools” is a strong comparison to make when so many faculty members do not teach their students based on their learning ability. I would compare the teaching style to that of The Peanuts cartoons “wom, wom, womwa, wom, wom”. It unfortunately goes in one students ear and out the other. I hope over the summer they make the appropriate adjustments with whatever on earth they’re trying this year. It’s not working and a lot of families will be transferring if this continues. I’m interested in seeing if the Harvard of elementary schools can pull it together.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLaguna has been such a blessing to my child and to me as a parent. The school and staff are so welcoming and loving. Majority of the teachers have been there long term and truly excel at what they do. I love that parents are welcome and involved on campus - it takes a village. Not only does my son get an amazing education, he is encouraged to learn through STEAM and taught to think outside of the box. Our family enjoys the extra fun things the kids get to participate in as well as the families. If you want a top notch education for your child along with a strong community and family culture…Laguna is the place!Parent Review1mo ago - Redfield Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDesert Canyon Elementary is a great public school! It meets the diverse needs of my three students. I have had very positive interactions with the administration and special education staff. All of my students' teachers have been kind, supportive and have approached the occasional issues that have arisen with a problem solving lens. All three are pushed in developmentally appropriate ways and all three come home happy at the end of the day. There are lots of extra curricular sports and activities; parents are very involved here. The school promotes ROAR behaviors, which stands for Respect, Outstanding Character, Appreciation and Responsibility. The staff, students and broader school community exemplify these every day.Parent Review1mo ago - International School Of Arizona

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI toured this school and was very impressed and excited about my child attending, but my experience interacting with them thereafter was very concerning. First, they are very unresponsive. Emails just go unanswered. I would have to follow up multiple times. Second, they won't meet with you. I requested a meeting more than once and no one was ever willing to schedule anything. Second, they have extremely arbitrary admissions requirements that are inconsistent with the state and are bad for kids. They actually suggested that because their age cutoff is different than the state's for kindergarten that my child just be in the wrong class for preschool and then have to skip a grade for kindergarten, which makes no sense. When I tried to inquire as to why this would be the case or talk with anyone they just said my child could not attend their school. If they treat you this way when you have other options, I would be very concerned how they would treat you once you are already committed.Parent Review5mo ago - Camelback Desert School
