John Jacobs Elementary School

I love that my daughter’s teacher Mrs. Hill is very communicative with me about her school days and I love the fact that all the teachers and principal are very welcoming, supportive, and interactive of kids. It’s changed from when I went to school and I love it!

Ironwood is a wonderful school. The teachers, principal, and families are warm and welcoming! Students are taught academics in fun and engaging, hands-on lessons. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and participate at their comfort level. The community around the school helps and supports the events held at the school. Student are also taught social/emotional awareness to help them express themselves in safe ways, build and maintain healthy friendships, as well as, form positive outlooks and self talk. Parent/Teacher communication is valued and they often share data to show my students growth. I love that my kids have formed such strong relationships with their teachers. I love this school!

The teachers are especially amazing. My son is excelling. The students are friendly and supportive.

The GLC program was supposed to be an amazing place for our gifted kids. The only gifted magnet school in Phoenix, and their promises were many. Unfortunately, they are not as equipped for 2e students as they profess to be. My 99.9% but also autistic son had a real struggle here, culminating in teacher bullying and intimidation after only 2 years. Our daughter is gifted w/ ADHD, and had an easier time socially, but as another 99.9% she was not appropriately challenged by the program either. Principal completely ignored bullying from both students and teachers until I made a huge Karen-level deal about it, and continued to back the teachers even with provided evidence. Lots of gaslighting and 'I never said that' even though I have a recording of the meeting type of stuff. We should have stuck with homeschool, they just couldn't handle our profoundly gifted kids.

In general the School is good, and as a mother of a Student, what I can say in its favor, is that the Teachers are always attentive to the children., That gives me peace of mind, because it is very important for children development. Thanks to everyone who works at the School, to make this possible.
