Posted by a community member on 10/27/2018I enjoy the small feel of this school. My kids really do love it most of the time. There are privileges here that are rare at other schools in Arizona. The school has parent involvement like I have never seen. They have so many extra activities to feel apart of the community. My one concern is because most of the school is privileged they have certain expectations that not everyone can live up to financially. Besides one or two teacher experiences it is a wonderful school.
Posted by a parent on 11/30/2017I am extremely disappointed with Hopi and how they treated my son. He is a gifted student that attended Hohokam, where he distinguished himself above the others! We were invited by Hopi to be apart of their Comprehensive Gifted Program. My husband signed him up and had to go back TWICE in May to give them all the paperwork. We even met the principal, was given a tour, and were excited for him to start. We show up for the first day of school, they tell us HE IS NOT ENROLLED. We were outraged! WHY NOT? Their CGP never called them back to confirm he got in TWO MONTHS AFTER WE ENROLLED HIM. FORGET THE FACT that we have the letter right there in our hands with his acceptance. They even had his paperwork and said that we need to call the Gifted Office. They call, we call FOUR TIMES! Nothing. We had to take our upset child back to his other school because they told us there was absolutely nothing they could do. They called us back at 4:00pm (when they close, of course) and were not there when we tried to call back 10 minutes later. Hopi Elementary had two months to contact us, Hohokam had 20 minutes before we got there. Hohokam had a name tag and gift bag waiting for my boy and that changed his entire day! Hopi has been nothing but a major disappointment and financial burden for my family. Unless you are a rich doctor and worth their time, don't expect too much. He will be attending Hohokam this year and I am almost thankful for it. If they treated my child HALF the way they treated us, it definitely would not have worked.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWent out of their way to sudgest a needed reading class last year in first grade now she is reading like a pro. All the faculty and staff have been great at reaching out to my daughter to make sure she has every thing she needs to be successful. For a moment I thought my daughter my need special education but not at Montevista. They scooped up my daughter and helped her reach her potential. Montevista is a great school.Parent Review2y ago - Tavan Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has undergone so many changes. It used to be a great place for education, for family and community. Now the teachers are mean, it’s no longer a loving environment and unfortunately the administrators don’t seem to care. I’ve tried to talk to them about this but they have met me with an attitude I just don’t understand. I say with serious regret that this isn’t a place to watch your children learn and grow. Now it’s just negative learning environment.Parent Review2mo ago - Christ Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school some time ago for 6th grade and half of 7th. I'm sad to see a lot of reviewers still mentioning the same problems today, particularly the bullying and busy-work. This place fostered a lot of cliquey behavior, not only among students, but among parents & teachers too. My mom was used to being very involved in my schooling up to that point. She'd always volunteered for bake sales and chaperone opportunities and had always gotten to know my teachers. At CLS she found herself completely shut out.For me, it was worse. All of the friend groups seemed to have formed by kindergarten, and this made entering the school for 6th grade a mistake. The girls were cruel, neurodivergent kids were treated like dirt, and there was very little diversity. The teachers mostly just seemed to be going through the motions, loading us with hours of homework. I'd gone from the gifted program at my prior school to backsliding at CLS. I didn't catch up until I returned to public school mid-7th grade.I had only one teacher who seemed to actually care. The thing that ultimately drove me away was my mental health. My mom saw me rapidly deteriorate and when she offered me the chance to go back to public school, I leapt at it. Within a week back at public school, I was going to sleepovers with new friends... something that didn't happen in my whole time at CLS.This place was a rough turning point in my life. I would not recommend going there at all, but I particularly recommend against transferring your child there in the later grades.Other Review8mo ago - Phoenix Country Day School
