Staff and teachers are amazing! Would only change principal. We need a more involved and caring principal. For an elementary school he does not seem like a qualified principal. Most parents do not know who he is .

Posted by a parent on 2/18/2025Desert View provided a safe, encouraging, diverse, neighborhood school for our child. He flourished here, attending from 3rd-6th, it is a small and caring environment with access to additional services as necessary. It's a hidden jewel, we are so glad we found it.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI wouldn't recommend this school, it has decent teaching but the overall effect it can have on social outcasts is ridiculous. As a former student I experienced several instances of bullying at this school and not a single teacher stepped up to do anything even when it was happening right in front of them. Teachers do nothing to help support struggling students.Additionally there tends to be a lot of drama amongst students and there's a lot of fights, and it seems orangewood has still done nothing to make sure this doesn't happen despite there being a zero tolerance bullying policy. NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids come home w a positive attitude towards Yiddishkeit and learning Torah - which you do not get everywhere! It is a safe environment.The Morahs and Rebbeim are very nice and warm, energetic and display good Middos. Rebbes are very special. They are organized. They know how to connect and inspire the boys and are great role models. Unfortunately the girls are not learning how to translate Pesukim, Rashis etc... and are significantly lacking Hebrew learning skills. There are no milim tests. No dikduk tests. Kids can't speak or write in basic Hebrew.Terrible secular studies with no accountability, or clear learning objectives / curriculum etc. and new teachers almost every year. Many, many, many secular studies teachers have even left in the middle of the year for one reason or another...No spelling tests, no book reports, no science fair, no research projects.... The school doesn't believe in homework so you'll never know what they are / are not learning. No one to talk to in administration.Unfortunately I have no choice where to send as it's the only frum school in all of AZ that separates girls and boys so I will probably have to move because of this very serious issue and deficit in my kids' education (most obvious in the secular studies but some issues in Judaics as well).Parent Review4y ago - Torah Day School of Phoenix
