My child was taken to do a Show for An Audience, the last day of school.He had a concussion, the entire trip. He began vomiting the next morning. He was diagnosed in the ER, where our PCP sent us after the behavior changes began.He was taken to his first school performance event, with a diagnosable concussion, after a fall at school that produced a visible and worsening injury - but we were not called.We sat in the audience and smiled, the entire time, and had no idea. The bruising had just begun, it had happened so recently. I’ll never know when exactly he received the blow to his head.The only communication we ever received from the school about this injury was a very quick verbal comment, right before students began singing, by the “nurse” at this school, assuring me that his incipient black eye was no big deal and he was Fine, he Got An Ice Pack. It was the second head injury, at school. We were told nothing at all about the first one. The only info that we have about that event is from a five year old, who states that nobody helped him, then, but he didn’t cry. I only knew when I saw the faded bruises under his hair. He has not been taught to hide tears, or injuries, at home, ever. But he learned at school.The event that caused the head injury w/concussion was never explained by anyone except himself, as well. We communicate clearly and honestly with our kids. We have not been offered ANY communication whatsoever about what occurred, nor has any of the school staff even checked on him, at all.When I ask school staff what name the nurse’s license is REALLY under, because it doesn’t EXIST under the name listed on the website, this year, I am not offered any response. Our child was THE youngest student on campus, on a playground that is integrated 1st-12th grades. The daily playground supervision here resulted in a five year old experiencing a fall so violent that it created a concussion, and instead of him being cared for properly and his parents immediately notified, to keep him safe, he was taken to Look Cute for The Audience.We were offered no documentation of either medical event, by anyone at school. It has now been two weeks since the concussion.They tried to take him to a nursing home, near Christmas, that same week. It was explained by the head of school that we MUST remember that the “blanket consent form” “covers that,” and we might be curtailing his fun. They never asked us at ALL. Many totally unvaccinated kids attend.
