There is no focus on education, no discipline, and no authority. Having came from another district, in comparison, the quality of education is poor, educators are not motivated themselves to teach and students are not willing to learn (and are not cooperative to the learning environment or actually disciplined to learn by educators). This is Arkadelphia Recreational not a high school as it should be... children are wasting there time in class rather than learning and those willing to learn are being deprived of excelling further. Athletes are being rewarded with continous playing time and "sports stardom," without having to make the grades to reward them of that privilege. It was a truly said fact to hear "here at this school all you need is a 'D' to pass, and even if you fail you're not in trouble for it." P.S. The "Arkadelphia Promise" is nothing more than a mirage, used to draw students to furthering their education with the district only to "thirst in the desert" when college finances bang at the door.

My kids are both in the high school and with the new tech model the students now use Macbooks. Technology is now at the forefront of the educational experience so my kids will be ready for real world jobs. Also there is an innovative engineering lab for the students and the public to use.

They has choosen to exclude the clubs. I'd your not a part of the sports world you don't matter. They have taken recognition away. They are no longer allowed to wear their earned cord at graduation. Parents weren't allowed to be present at the senior completers award assembly nor were the clubs featured anywhere in the yearbook this year. I have been apart of the district for the past 17 years and things aren't improving and it isn't just about the clubs.

I have to completely agree that this school has room for improvement. I do understand why though. This school can not afford many decent teachers. Very few decent teachers would want to give up a better paying job in a better environment than AHS for AHS, so the employment is not very good. Many students are awful and out of control, and the school has no power over them. For example, a class I'm currently enrolled in that is out of control. No teaching goes on, meaning no learning does either. It's my best subject, and I have the lowest grade in that class. One teacher I have expects so much out of my class, because we are taking advanced classes. However, he REFUSES to teach us the things he expects us to learn in that class. There is little to no encouragement to do well and make something of our lives. Long story short, if you're considering AHS, don't. The last day of my senior year will be my last day near that school, because I would never send my children there.
