We sent our child to a private school for kindergarten but decided that was just not the right fit for us. We have been thrilled with the decision to put her in the Opelika City Schools and our experience at Northside has only solidified our decision. Our child is challenged and cared for and we continue to be impressed with the caliber of faculty and staff at Northside. We love this school!

My family has attended this school for generations and not one has had a great experience. Including my children.

We've been at Jeter for two years now. Both of my children LOVE it. The teachers are AMAZING and the facility is wonderful. So happy to have such a wonderful public school for my children to attend!

Our Children have great respect for teachers and staff. Oldest child will graduate early.

I would not recommend this school for anyone that is neurodivergent. The lower school memorizes and regurgitates facts. There is no critical thinking until middle school, and no room for creativity. The teacher didn’t seem to care whether our child was engaged in the material. The testing environment was toxic (the teacher would take children outside the room to tell them when their grades were unacceptable, but everyone knew why they were leaving the room). Kids frequently would cry over their tests scores. Everyone knew each other’s scores. Low test scores were treated as if this was a failure on the child’s part, instead of an indication to the teacher that there was an adjustment that needed to made to her teaching. There is no flexibility, and the legalistic drive towards perfectionism has given birth to division and pride on the part of the students and the teachers. When someone messes up, their mistakes are pointed out in derision. Despite being a Christian school, they selectively show grace to some, and not to others. Emails to the principal are not answered in a timely manner, and there is a general disorganization concerning their admission as well as other aspects. A parent’s concerns about how a child is treated by other students, such as possible bullying or clique behavior, is brushed aside if it wasn’t viewed directly, and requires no investigation by the administration. This created a very anxious and lonely environment for our child.

The teachers, faculty, and curriculum here are amazing. We love the Classical approach to learning. The school is run by the Christian Taliban. (Not to be confused with real Christians). This is an evil school run by evil people.
