Read what parents are saying about Columbia Elementary SchoolGreat teaches and leadership who genuinely care about their students.
Posted by a parent on 7/19/2022We love Columbia. I have one child who has graduated from it and another two who are there currently. One of my children struggles academically and two excel. My child who struggles was given additional help without me ever having to ask. A couple of my children have enjoyed math club, science club, and chess team, and one child enjoyed being in the school play. The administrators care about your children and are great with responding to concerns. PTA is active and offers many opportunities to volunteer.
Posted by a parent on 12/31/2018Some people say that CES is awful! But I strongly disagree. I've been a student here for a long time and ive learned he teachers and staff are super kind and encouraging! Some other studens don like school because it's, well, school! When hey tell their parents about it they twist it all up, and its almost never what its actually like!!! When a bully comes, teachers help and care. When you have problems, they help you! This is a great school, and i actually do no want o go to middle school because i would have to switch schools!!!!
Posted by a student on 4/21/2018This is our first year at Columbia and we are very pleased with our child's teacher, the administration and overall support we have received during this difficult transition.
Posted by a community member on 8/8/2016This school has poor teacher/student, teacher/parent, & administration/parent relationships. There's a lot of negative teachers who don't like children or people in general. We have had a few good teachers; but the bad outweigh the good by a lot. Test scores are great because parents are highly educated & parents are forced to make kids do a lot of test prep homework. Principal thinks teachers can do no wrong. It's really sad that he respects my husband more than me & will respond to him simply because he's a man. We bought our home in this district because of previous good administration, and now we wish we were elsewhere. It's a shame that our kids' childhoods are spent at this school. One in particular killed my daughter's happy spirit. Other schools in area are much better!

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWest Madison elementary school is now Midtown elementary school. They moved into a new building. The administration and staff in this school are outstanding! Honestly the best of the best schools in Madison city schools. Leadership sure does reflect, and Mrs. Demeester is an exemplary leader. The inclusion at this school and care they inculcate into the students to genuinely care for each other is one I have never seen before. The students are kind and support kids of all kinds. My son loves going to school and has learned and developed so well socially and academically. Special education staff is incredible. They genuinely care about your child and do everything in their power to help them. Giving me hope I wasn't too sure of prior to him starting here. This school is a heaven sentY'all this school has the best staff. Mrs. Sellers, Mrs. Rush, Mrs. Massey. Just an awesome staff and administration. A very rare find to get the best of both worlds.Parent Review1y ago - Rainbow Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is overrated i become more and more disappointed with everything about this school from it being overcrowded to under trained for diversity. Also there are more cases of kids missing when it comes to their transportation than this school makes public due to its blending mechanism of being a "MADISON SCHOOL" I moved to Madison just for the "Great" schools and needless to say I've been shown everything but.Parent Review2y ago - St John The Baptist Catholic School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is our second year at the school, where our two youngest attend. Their teachers have been great, focusing on their development and understanding their individual needs. The academic level seems just right, pushing the students appropriately. We also love the community aspects of the school.Parent Review6mo ago
