Read what parents are saying about Challenger Elementary SchoolWonderful! Teachers and staff go above and beyond! Daughter attended all of elementary school.
Posted by a parent on 2/13/2021We have deliberately stayed in this district for the benefit of our daughter's education. The teachers are spirited educators, involved day and night. We have greatly enjoyed the technological advances they've made for parents to stay involved with grades, assessments, etc.
Posted by a parent on 6/11/2020They do not have great parent/student/teacher/school communication!
Posted by a parent on 1/10/2017Being a teacher in this system, I tend to be critical. I have no real issues with this school as of now. My child is in kindergarten and I've been happy. He's been encouraged to participate in various activities (academic) that he's probably too young for. I also encouraged these activities because they were something to "work towards". By no means we're these things unachievable (science fair) but they were a little advanced for him. The school does a great job at including the little ones and rewarding their efforts. The PTA does a great job reaching out to the school community and I appreciate all of the partnerships that support the school.I get REALLY tired of the number of times something comes home for money. At the start of the year we were told "5we only have one fundraiser" but there is always something coming home asking for money. That is very frustrating because it usually involves $1 entry fee into something. It isn't much but it's often and I can't punish the kid by saying no. I do appreciate that they always mention what it's for.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeachers there do bare minimum. The teacher my child had took away food as punishment, and the teachers also take away recess as punishment. Principal is 0 help and does not return emails. My child also came home so hungry every day because her teacher rarely let the students have snack. So glad I got my kid out.Parent Review1y ago - Weatherly Heights Elementary School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFormer student speaking and from my experience I think the education is good.Except PE the teachers just have it as glorified recess and did not prepare me at ALL for high school PE. We did no push-ups no sit ups nothing. The most you did was walk a few laps around the track and you were free to do whatever as long as you don’t get hurt. They aren’t even that good as football coaches either so I don’t know how they haven’t been fired yet.Aside from PE, my only other complaint is the lack of punishment. I was bullied a lot and the most the teachers ever did was walk up to them and tell them “Please stop doing _______ to _____.” If you were lucky, they would get detention, but it does nothing because they were already used to it. They didn’t even bat an eye when the special education kids were being bullied. Ms. Graham was the only teacher I ever saw do something about the bullying. It disgusts me that the school doesn’t care about this problem.Other Review2mo ago - The Montessori School Of Huntsville

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe Montessori School of Huntsville is such a breath of fresh air. The staff deeply believes in and embodies Montessori principles and it makes such a clear difference. I have seen my children grow in social and emotional skills and confidence as well as traditional academics like math and reading fundamentals. Their time at school has made a marked difference in how they interact with their home environment, other people, and our family. Their guide has followed their interests to create works that build on their passions. I feel extremely fortunate to have this school available for our children. The expectations are developmentally appropriate and respectful, while still setting clear boundaries and engendering community and kindness.Parent Review2y ago - Mt Gap Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’m a current Junior in high school and I believe that Mountain Gap Elementary School is positively the best school providing lower education in the area. I got to Mountain Gap in the last few months of my 2nd grade year and I was welcomed with open arms. The principal, my teacher, and my classmates were very kind and I found friends quickly. My elementary years taught me plenty of content not being learned at my prior school. The normal classroom curriculum was unmatched but I also had the opportunity to be in the gifted program- taking me out of the classroom at times which was also extremely beneficial to me. Though teachers have retired and moved, I have no doubts that Mountain Gap Elementary still provides the same quality education I received in my time there. I spent the rest of my elementary and middle school career in Mountain Gap schools. If you or your child has the opportunity to go to Mountain Gap- welcome to the best years! You’re in good hands and you’ll be on the path for great things.Other Review2mo ago
