Posted by a parent on 11/13/2022I am not sure what level of academics are offered at this school. One conversation with one of the school's counselors and being ignored by not one , but 3 ladies at the front desk/reception area upon my arrival was enough for me to enroll my child in a private highschool in Homewood. I felt very unwelcome there and knew that it was not the place for our family.
Posted by a parent on 8/11/2017As a graduate of Hueytown High School, I would not recommend for anyone to send their children to this school. It makes me feel disgusted when I think of all of the excellent teachers I had throughout high school that were fired or pressured to leave by the administration. The administration is known to harass and target only certain students when it comes to discipline to "make an example of them" for the rest of the school. The administration is notorious for cracking down on athletes and students who are more involved and letting delinquent kids with a record of disciplinary infractions get away with more and receiving a lighter punishment. The school is far more concerned with discipline as opposed to academics and I believe that is why academics are failing on a grander scale. For a student to receive the best possible education and most preparation for college, or the real world in general, honors and AP classes are a MUST. Without these, a student from Hueytown would not be fully prepared for college. All in all, HHS is a huge disappointment. It is sad to see the school's decline in the past 10-15 years. I see no improvement for the school in sight.

Posted by a parent on 11/7/2013The administrators, teachers, and councilors have given my daughter new insight to studying and pursuing a college for a career. They are very helpful and nice and encouraging to her. The goal of the school is to be safe, study and have fun at doing this. They are very nice and have helped her through many trials. Thank you Hueytown. Safety first.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had 3 children attend NHES, 2 of them still do. My oldest is a 5th grader and my youngest is a 1st grader. We have NEVER had an issue that hadn't been addressed. My oldest is a straight "A" student and has been involved in so many different activities and/or groups because of her academic achievements. This is definitely a great school to send an excelled child! They offer the TaG Program (Talented and Gifted), National Elementary Honor Society, Ambassadors, Safety Patrol, Science Olympiad, Chess Club, Drama Club, Choir Club, Spanish Club, Newcomb Team, Spelling Bee, Hearing and Vision Screening, Speech and Language Therapy, Reading Help, etc.... Too many to name them all!!! They are ALWAYS welcoming parents to come "sit in" or to come and volunteer for ANYTHING!!!I absolutely LOVE NHES and I hope the next few years are just as great!!Parent Review5y ago - Deeper Life Academy

Surely no board is governing the actions of this school and if it was it should have been shut down . It is a daycare at best and I would not even feel comfortable sending my infant there. There is no instruction , there are no extra curricular activities . Besides not being given an education , how do they build social skills? You are better off sending your child to PUBLIC SCHOOL. At least there they will receive some level of education. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL!STRONGLY DISAGREE: Leadership at this school is effective.Leadership is incompotent and does not have the background nor the expertise to run a educational institution.ReportSTRONGLY DISAGREE: This school effectively supports students with learning differences.This school should be shut down due to the fact that they are robbing the parents blind just to have the children teach themselves out of workbooks. My sibling went there and they knew he was failing and did not provide the support needed to ensure he got the education he deserved. Where is the tutoring ?
