HHS offers career readiness programs, such as welding, electrical, plumbing, etc, as well as career academies to prepare for college. Academics are so important, and teachers and counselors are readily available to assist students and parents with questions or concerns. They actively help students prepare for ACT testing and have before school and Saturday School for students struggling academically. I honestly feel like students can find "their people" at HHS, because there are so many students from so many backgrounds. Find your group! Kids are kids, and there are some jerks, but overall, I think kids can easily find friends with common interests. They also offer many sports and activities for all interests from baseball and golf to ESports and choir. They have many Honor Societies and social groups. WE LOVE IT!

Unbelievably political and clique-y. If you aren't involved in the politics, then your kid will suffer. Bullying goes on and the administration does nothing. The privileged kids get special treatment. The athletes get special treatment. All Hartselle cares about is how much money your family have or who you know. I would rate it as one of the most fake and dangerous schools in terms of inclusivity.

The school is all about AP classes. The principal only cares about those kids and the scores on the AP test. No discipline at the school also and the dress code is a joke. So sad for such a great city to have leadership like that.

As a parent of children that attend Hartselle City Schools and two at Hartselle High School I think that the system has definitely got some room to improve. I would agree that unless you are good at sports and you know the right people it doesn't matter how smart or talented you are in academics or sports you are are not going to be recognized or rewarded. There is a low incidence of problem behavior which i commend, but the social environment is not welcoming if you do not fit the stereotypical southern family that is perfect and well off. This school could use a good dose of open minded acceptance of others and many children walk around afraid to be who they are and have no one to stand up for them. My children have stood up for others and received backlash for standing up for those afraid to stand up for themselves. It is scary that some parents see only the benefits to the athletics department and do not think about other areas of their children's overall development. I think the job of a parent and anyone who instructs our youth is to develop them into a productive member of society and Hartselle lacks in this important area.

I graduated two years ago, and I must say, Hartselle High School is amazing. It is cliquey. However, I moved here my 9th grade year and fit in immediately, and I never played a sport or joined a club. I have seen parents and teachers come together to help poor families with their own money. Great community! I wish I could say Hartselle wasn't obsessed with sports but this is true. Other activities are promoted just as much, though. I am referring to the way sport players get out of trouble. When students are caught distributing drugs at school, they shouldn't be able to play sports again. However, there is not have a drug problem. That was one incident. Anyways, the teachers are all great. I was challenged academically and I excel in college. It is easy to be involved at this school. My kids will attend Hartselle High.
