Read what parents are saying about Wasilla High SchoolWHS is a great school. The staff care about the students and are always available to help when they need it. The principal is the best in the state in my opinion. He listens and has an open mind when you have a concern or suggestion. He is always available to parents, students and staff alike.

Posted by a community member on 11/26/2013I believe Wasilla High School to be comparable to any good high school in the state. My son will graduate a year early due to the many Accelerated Placement courses available to him. I believe the high dropout rate is due to many families withdrawing students and moving around the state. The school still shows those kids on their rolls. When I went to parent/teacher conferences this year few parents showed up and my son's teachers were so happy to see me. If a child is having a hard time in school I would look to the parent before blaming the staff. My son attended his first semester of 9th grade in New Mexico and is much happier now that we moved and he attends Wasilla High.
Posted by a parent on 6/22/2013WHS is one of the worst high schools in the Matanuska Valley area. Wasilla has such a high drop out rate that the community has had to open alternative schools in recent years. Most of the students that attend the alternative schools come form wasilla and do well because the teacher student ratio is better. also the alternative schools simply graduate students using work study credit. Some of the teachers at wasilla high school simply have been there to long and do not have the passion they started with years ago. I have seen and know teachers that have been teaching for years and still are motivated and enjoy teaching different student mentalities. Wasilla teachers are not that way they dont care if the students fail.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFrom the moment we walked in the doors of Iditarod we felt supported. Our daughter is new this year to both Iditarod and the school district. Staff at Iditarod are kind, responsive, fun, and professional. We struck gold when we enrolled our daughter here. Iditarod's communication, specifically from her teacher, is exceptional. Our daughter's educational growth is wonderful and she feels a sense of belonging at her school and in her classroom. Iditarod takes student safety seriously and I find great comfort in that when I send her to school each day. I know our daughter is learning, is safe and is loved. We truly couldn't ask for more from such a wonderful group of educators!Parent Review1y ago - Larson Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers at this school care about every child. They get to know the families and will go out of their way to help make things better for the families. The principal is stands firm against bullies and all students, staff and families know she takes it seriously. It is a no tolerance! They have great interventions in place to help students who are behind as well as ways to challenge those who are above. Tanaina staff cares about EVERY child.Other Review1y ago - Axios Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe're very pleased to have four children enrolled at Our Lady of the Valley. It has been a transformative experience for our family. Teachers are energetic and patient. The goals we have (Christian formation, love of learning and of God's will in their lives) are aided by the small, attentive staff. I'm distressed to read the negative commentaries here, so sorry for these experiences. I hope the resentment and damage can be healed. And please come back to Mass! Don't allow anyone to take that from you.Parent Review6y ago - Wasilla Lake Christian School
