4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGenuinely one of the worst schools I’ve had to go in,every kid is vaping in bathrooms, bullying each other,or just being downright disrespectful to teachers. The school punishes everyone but the actual students doing the wrongs. I was struggling with suicidal thoughts and half of the time I wasn’t allowed to go to the counselors office,or just get help in general.the only time they actually cared was when my mom had to pull me out of the school because I had a mental breakdown.Student Review7mo ago - Mountlake Terrace Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had a concern about my kid in kindergarten being screened by another parent in his class, and also made privy to private medical concerns as she also in an employee, without my knowledge or permission. The principal’s response was “I’m sorry you feel that way.” They also felt it was appropriate to have the kindergarten class learn about making signs for protesting and what that is, when stressors were high in the midst of a raging pandemic and multiple changes happening to the kids lives. My child was stressed during this time, and this was not an appropriate topic for him. Finally, they switched my child’s teacher with one day notice, which caused an extreme amount of stress for my child. We knew there could be a change, but thought he’d get at least a week to process before such an abrupt change. During the holidays, the principal sent out a huge thank you letter to all the teachers and staff, but no acknowledgment to the parents on how hard we’d worked to support our children at home virtually. Families are part of the picture, we do know our children better than you, and we are a valued part of the team. I am leaving specifically because families matter. I looked past many things because I had to, but this school needs to change their entire paradigm to be child centered. I’ll also add that I got a stern talking to because my child reiterated some line about using a shrink ray to catch bad guys, and how they don’t tolerate violence. Which is confusing, because an employee at the school with a direct role in working with young childreb openly supports rioting on her social media. Who are these people? Oh well, glad to be leaving.Parent Review2y ago - Mountlake Terrace High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMountlake Terrace High School deserves a full 5 out of 5 stars. As a parent of a student at MTHS, I have been consistently impressed with the school's academic programs, extracurricular activities, and community engagement. The teachers at MTHS are excellent - they are knowledgeable, passionate about their subjects, and truly care about their students' success. My child has built strong relationships with teachers who provide extra support when needed. Classes are engaging and rigorous, preparing students well for college or careers after graduation.Furthermore, MTHS has a positive school culture where students are respected and individuality is valued. The administration sets clear expectations for behavior while also fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment. Bullying is not tolerated. As a parent, I always feel welcome coming to the school for meetings, events, or to volunteer. Communication from teachers and administrators is excellent. I am thrilled to have my child attending such an outstanding high school that will fully prepare them for a bright future. For all these reasons, I give Mountlake Terrace High School a 5 out of 5 star rating. It's a fantastic school!Parent Review6mo ago - Check out schools near 22107 66th Ave W #8D.

"I grew up in Mountlake Terrace and my parents owned a house there for 45 years. Like everything, it has changed quite a bit. But we always were blessed with great neighbors, we played outside growing up and it was close to the freeway to get north or south easily! It will always hold a special place in my heart. "

"I've lived here for 59 years & love it. I'm not crazy about all of the senior housing being built & peeps being forced out of their homes for the Light Rail... But overall it's forever my home."
