8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJHS and its faculty have seemingly turned a blind eye on a major issue being same-sex harassment. In my freshman year I was repeatedly, albeit on the lower end (but still uncomfortably) touched by the same student almost every day, along with constant gaslighting by other peers that I wasn't resisting. For a period of 3 months my mental health was down the drain and I was too afraid to do or say anything. Teachers and coaches at JHS couldn't have missed it, especially when it occurred in an open gym, and during the few times it was noticed, little to no repercussions were given. What kind of school allows somethings of this caliber to slide? Was 3 months of out loud, spoken and visual harassment not firing any signals? Despite moving on, I am still reminded of these events today. The school is average at best, having little expectation of its students but the least they can do is keep their students safe.Student Review3w ago - Henry David Thoreau Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have had an excellent experience at Thoreau Elem. I have to disagree with people who say they have never seen the principal at events or before/after school. She is outside in the mornings quite often and I love seeing the kids greet her with smiles and hugs. Just the other evening she was blowing up balloon animals at the carnival!! The PTA is awesome and has worked hard to be inclusive and not cliquey. Everyone is encouraged to join and participate. We love Thoreau and couldn't be happier.Parent Review7y ago - Check out schools near 8627 NE 132nd Pl.

"I always worked in the neighborhood, so commuting was no problem. Finn Hill is reasonably close to the Microsoft campus, and other major tech companies. Boeing and Amazon are a bit of a commute, but still very doable, especially with the ease of public transportation between Seattle and the Eastside. "
