6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have grown disappointed in this school. It comes off as if they don’t trust the parents. I feel the parent/school relationship is terrible. I don’t think Denson and Summit are right for this school. They make it very hard on the parents if your child is sick. If you don’t send your child to school that day you have the pressure on you to make a doctor’s appointment. That can be stressful to do every time. When I was in school all my mom had to do was call or send in an excuse note. She only needed a doctor’s note if I was very sick and going to be out for a couple days. Last year my oldest was bullied and it was very difficult sending her to school. She begged me to homeschool her. She wanted me to come visit her class. I feel the school is unfriendly to allow such a thing. Yes, they have events you can volunteer but to actually visit a class and observe is not welcome. This put me in an uncomfortable place and I had anxiety every day sending my oldest to school. So far this year things seem to be going better.Parent Review6mo ago - Smithfield Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a student at Smithfield Middle School, and my experience was.. okay I guess. I never really talked to anyone, but I did click with like 2 people. The teachers were relatively nice, and I have a good time in Gym. Mr. Robertson and Ms. Sowden are great teachers, so I did very well in English and Math. Wouldn’t really recommend if you have money, but for a nearby free public school it is pretty normal. Fights are frequent though.Student Review1y ago - Smithfield High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has completely gone downhill. The admin fail to keep students safe while in the school. Dr. Thornton cares more about increasing his pay than his employees health, or students well being. IOWCS has taken a sharp turn in failing their students.Parent Review2y ago - Westside Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI love the school as the teachers are amazing. I wish the clubs were cheaper as everytime my kid does anything they are asking for money. I think we spend close to $200-$300 in clubs or are asked to and opt out. The school rents bouncy houses, buys cups, pens, bully bracelets and misc stuff which is wonderful, but I wish it went towards equipment or club expenses. My kids have gone to five schools and I do feel like everything is expensive except the run club. Recently my daughter came home with 12 anti-bullying bracelets as the kids were throwing them away and she “saved them”. The teachers are amazing and wonderful though so kuddos to them!Parent Review4y ago - Check out schools near 169 Talbot Dr.

"Most days my commute is long and busy. I hate it. Too much traffic and it’s too long. Moving to Carrollton would shorten my commute. "

"Nice wooded location in cul de sac with low traffic/ quiet friendly neighborhood: Smithfield is a quaint town offering the small historical town feel with easy access to bigger cities- Williamsburg, Newport News, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, etc. as well as easy access to many beaches."

"I have had the pleasure of living and working in beautiful Smithfield, Virginia. As part of a proud military family, we wanted to be within driving distance of the bases, but far enough away to really enjoy our family time. Smithfield is an amazing community, really charming and welcoming. I've lived here since 2006 and I would be more than happy to call this area my forever home."
