7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHaving worked in several school in surrounding areas, I was extremely hesitant to enroll our daughter in a public school, but Glen Cove has put the majority of my concerns at ease. I have yet to meet any staff that weren’t professional and courteous. 5/5 from someone with a LOT of experience with schools.Parent Review6y ago - Northside High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Northside! We moved from Hidden Valley and are absolutely satisfied! The school staff is excellent and Mr.Dent and Mrs. Franklin are truly gems in this school. They take an active, honest interest in the students and stay in touch with them to guide them along the way. My past experience with the South County has not been pleasant. In the South County area, there is too much focus put on the wealth of the students and their families and there is too much bullying and general mean spirit of some of the kids that gets overlooked. NHS gets little to no press for their efforts in educational and sports achievements. The Roanoke Times actually told me they had to choose to pick an area to focus on in their community section on their website, and this wasn't it. Too bad for the kids who deserve recognition for their efforts. Parents need to speak up and send in articles to highlight our kids! Northside rocks! Anyone thinking of moving to this school should do it, your kids will thank you for it!Parent Review12y ago - Northside Middle School

What Locals Say about Roanoke

"Avoid Garden City. I have lived in Roanoke all my life but will never live in GC again. Some roads are okay, but most of them are “drug roads,” you will hate your neighbors, and you will live around unleashed dogs who bark 24/7. Good luck"

"Would not recommend living here… Rental group is amazing but we had people trying to get into the house and lure us out on numerous occasions between midnight and 5am. We decided to move since we were expecting a child. If you don’t have kids I’d say a great place!"

"We need sidewalks in Roanoke county!! Cave spring for sure! Please give us somewhere to walk I have walked on the side of the road for years and had to walk in thorns I think it would help everyone and businesses could get more business with the ability for more people to access them. If people do not have cars sidewalks would be greatly appreciated."
