8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a joke. We moved to Virginia Beach from another state and everyone told us we needed to be in the Grassfield school district, specifically the elementary school. We don't like anything about this school or the district. The only reason I gave it 1 star is being she has had a decent teacher the last 2 years. . When we first moved to Chesapeake and my daughter started going here she was very upset and going through some things mentally. She asked the guidance counselors for help multiple times, we asked them for help multiple times. We were always promised she would be seen and taken care of and she was ghosted every single time. When she finally did see the guidance counselor she was told she needed to stop crying because she was going to send a bad message to all the other kids. We had an issue with one of the teachers at first and requested a transfer and again we were ghosted by the vice principle multiple times and was only able to talk to him when we called over and over again . The principal has zero presence in this school. We have been here 2 years and I have never seen the principal, EVER. . They run their lunch room like a prison. I have been there multiple times to have lunch with my daughter and every time I have been there they have someone in the lunch room yelling at kids for talking and handing out "silent lunches" They rarely have any family functions at the school . Her previous schools would have family nights, seasonal parties and carnivals. This school offers absolutely nothing. When they do have the occasional holiday party you're only allowed one family member. I never recommend this school to anyone and if you have other options, I would consider those. Plus the tardy policy is absolutely ridiculous . They make you feel like you're breaking the law for wanting to take your children out early or keeping them home for sick or mental health days.Parent Review1mo ago - Grassfield High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had an overall TERRIBLE experience with Grassfield’s staff and admin team throughout the two years I have attended (I am a Junior this year). The teachers here are great. Almost all of them are understanding and patient, although around half of them gave out quick busy work after a fast slideshow presentation about the topic before going on their phone/talking to other students/staff. These kinds of teachers were still loved by other students and staff. The STEM teachers, although, are amazing. You can tell they truly want to work with the children in the field they teach. Halfway through my freshman year, I got a 504 plan due to my autism, but more than half of my teachers ignored all or part of my accommodations. Many of them did not respond to emails concerning needs not being met. It took a call to the school to get them to recognize my accommodations needed to be met, which I was met with an upset attitude with all of these teachers for them having to have my needs met.The councilors and admin in this school is HORRENDOUS. Admin never enforced the mask requirement the year school became in-person again. I had experiences with the councilors due to my extremely poor mental state. They got upset me for being mentally ill (got upset at me for having issues with depression and self-harm) and tried making me out to be the person at fault. They got upset at me for not making eye contact (symptom of autism), while stating they were trying to get to “know me”. They could have easily found out about my disability, so it’s clear these councilors have no intention of truly getting to know your child. They forced me to agree to things I hadn’t agreed with them on for conversation to continue and said my attitude got “better” when I agreed with whatever they had said to me without disagreement. They will get mad if you try and correct them. They forced me to show them scars on my arms I was not comfortable showing to them (as I do not know these people whatsoever), tried forcing me into a therapy program with other Grassfield military children although I expressed I wasn’t comfortable (due to my extreme anxiety at the time), lied to my mother, got up in my face, called me out of class multiple times, causing my grade to drop, and so much more. I cannot express how terrible the councilors at this school are. They do not care about your child or their well-being. If they are mentally unwell, they will treat your child like a burden.Student Review8mo ago - Check out schools near 904 Centurion Cir.

"This is a safe, quiet, and a great place for families. The tolls and traffic are the downers. Very congested considering tons of communities connected to two main low capacity roads available."

"Large dog friendly community. Some owners don’t know how to pick up after their furry family members. That makes it frustrating."

"I love my neighbors, and the people who live here. Good schools, nice shops, clean here. I have many food stores to choose from and other shops. The only thing I don’t like is the tolls, and the large amount of gun shot I hear in this area, which I guess is for control of wild life in the area."

"We have lived in this neighborhood for 20 years. My children grew to be smart and strong here, and they had many friends. The schools are great and the teachers are wonderful. The neighbors are kind and caring. Our jobs are taking us to another state, but we will always treasure the memories and friends we have made here in this safe and secure neighborhood."

"They have a really nice school system, although the new bridge was built, the toll is a little Steep. We don’t have much shopping on this side of the bridge . We have a few food stores, Walmart, food loin, but we need a place that will offer fresh fruit, and vegetables. "
