Description
This property is not currently for sale or for rent on Trulia. The description and property data below may have been provided by a third party, the homeowner or public records.
This home sits on 2 very large flat front yard lots. The back of the lots to the lake a very gently sloping making it easy access for anyone. Old Home Place is a very special 200+ year old authentic log cabin in a wooded setting on Douglas Lake. Several years ago, this home was dismantled and then rebuilt at the lake using its original logs; those used to build it in historic Cades Cove back in the 1800s. The logs still retain the carvings of long ago and have become a conversation piece for our guests. Recent remodeling has improved its character: including a new metal roof, all new thermal pane windows, complete new kitchen, and wood laminate floors throughout the home.
Old Home Place is nestled on two wooded lots with lots of hardwood trees with very easy access for young and old alike to the lake. Imagine the Wintry months here with the historic log home, a romantic fireplace to snuggle next to and a steamy hot tub to relax in. Just the perfect setting for a romantic weekend away with that special someone. In the large front yard you have a swing hanging from a tree, a fire-pit with cedar benches, a horse shoe pit and corn hole boards to play which gives you lots to do when your not in the lake. A perfect Smoky Mountain setting! The upstairs bedroom has a full bed, and a day with with a trundle. You can pull the trundle out if you like and have 4 separate beds
The large covered back porch has a hot tub, dining table and chairs and a very comfortable porch swing to enjoy all while overlooking the lake. the covered front porch has rocking chairs to sit and relax and enjoy the woods and occasionally a deer may walk through. There is geese that loves to play in the water behind this home and squirrels running around in the yard. Enjoy nature to the fullest.
There is a garage by the house that has a pool table so the kids, young or old , can play and have lots of fun yet not bother the others in the home who would enjoy some calmer time.
The driveway is a large circular one so you can just drive right in and out with your boat without having to back up. One of the concrete launches is within walking distance and the other one is about a mile away if your here in the winter time.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to Jefferson County schools from 1976-1987 and had a great experience all the way through. As with any school system you have great teachers and a few that are there just to collect a paycheck. My son went through he Jefferson County School system K-12 and ended with honors when graduating.Jefferson County is a great place to raise a family and that's why I've lived here on the same farm we've owned since the year I was born and would not live anywhere else. Jefferson County is one of America's greatest little secrets and I Love Living here and love my community.Parent Review3mo ago - Maury Middle School

"The Paine Lake neighborhood is NOT kid friendly. Not only was my child the only kid in the entire neighborhood, the HOA is often making new rules to discourage younger families, like banning basketball goals in driveways simply for appearances. They also DO NOT allow anyone to display decorations or even a flag- they made a war veteran take down his American flag on the Fourth of July!!!"

"It’s fairly quite and neighbors are okay. But a lot of people speed down the road a lot, which makes it scary. "
