6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers all try their best with the students in the area. The students are friendly and outgoing there aren't really "cliques" the drama club has the best performances in the area and Tamaqua hosts the areas largest band. My main Gripe is with the school board and the policies in place to distribute funding or discipline measures. the school heavily favors football the cash cow that it is for ticket sales etc. but almost completely disregards other school functions. The drama club has to find their own funding for many of costs associated and the band doesn't even get access to new instruments or enough bussing. Some of the pool equipment is broken and has been broken for years but the football shed always has new lights. The responses towards "bullying" and interactions between peers is oftentimes completely inappropriate, no tolerance policy's in place mean that any defense is punished as harshly as the bully. Uniforms are so strictly enforced that a logo on pants or polo mean that a student is sent home for it. Socks may only be white or navy blue and occasionally there is this big farce on checking students SOCKS and assigning punishments. even in winter students are not allowed to wear boots in school and must instead bring shoes to change into.Other Review3y ago - Tamaqua El School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son went to Tamaqua Elem, we sadly moved out of the area due to husbands job. They are very Organized, wonder academics, and amazing teachers. The Principal will get back to you and help with any problem your having. For the uniform it can use some more colors in polo shirts but I think it's easy for parents and makes Tamaqua look professional. Students wore things they shouldn't be wearing to school so the uniforms don't cause distractions. I wish Tamaqua went with mesh instead of Clear because you tend to have to get a new book bag because they don't last long. But I understand the safety with clear. Overall I feel Tamaqua is a great school to be apart of .Parent Review8y ago - Check out schools near 251 Lafayette St.

"I've lived in the town of Tamaqua my entire life. It's a decent small town.. the infrastructure like most small towns with limited budgets I need help here in there,. We have mostly good people and know our neighbors all across town not just the ones next door. There's a lot of school spirit and hometown pride.. as well as general pride in the coal region. A lot of things for the arts and leisure are starting to be introduced into town which I think is a really good thing. most of the home values are still reasonably priced as compared to larger towns and cities nearby. We do have our fair share of crime and the Nationwide drug problem has not left us alone either. We do look out for each other though and I think most people could be comfortable here"
