N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePeter's Elementary was a wonderful school for both of our children. The teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. The teachers were always willing to help when needed and listen to our concerns. If we would have any concerns or questions, we would email the teacher and they would respond the same day. Excellent school.Parent Review7y ago - Northern Lehigh Senior High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall my experience at this school was positive. There is a positive environment with many great people. Unfortunately the school gets a poor reputation from the not so obedient minority. There are some areas that could be improved upon such as the a ratio of required graduating credits. It is odd that science only requires three credits while the other core subjects require four. Science is arguably one of the largest growing fields right now so that should be a more primary focus. There are also limits to what classes are available. For a small school it can be difficult to fill a class with students if it is not required. However AP biology is not available and I do not know if it is possible to take on Bulldog Academy. As for sports, the main sports of our school thrive with highly talented athletes who break records and achieve great things. The selection of sports is smaller than larger schools such as not having volleyball or tennis. This issue is not that big of a deal though. The music department could use a little bit of help. The marching band keeps winning with the little that they have but needs more support in order to gain members. The choir can never hold a director for an extended period of time. The band director works more than anybody could ever imagine. By having two band directors, it would be easier to develop the middle school and high school band separately. Or maybe the extra director could lead an orchestra. Almost every other nearby district has an orchestra and I feel that it could broaden the horizons of students. There are many places to build leadership and teamwork skills. With the variety of clubs open at this school there is no way you can’t find something to join. Recently a computer programming club was developed by a group of students who felt that this should be implemented into the school. The administration is highly supportive of students exploring their options when it comes to hobbies or skills.Student Review4y ago - Slatington El School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSchools in Pennsylvania are legally required to reach out to parents about 504 assistance when they notice students are struggling - however, here they will just punish and belittle the child, and harass the parents. I’ve spoken to 3 additional families who had the same experience and had to pull their children out of this school! My son was made to feel so ostracized and ashamed of himself when it turns out he has adhd - the teachers even filled out the assessment for him to get diagnosed, and STILL acted like he was just a “bad kid” and I was a bad parent because I couldn’t snap my fingers and make him sit still and shut up in class for them. This was the first year after quarantine too! They will take away recess as a punishment for simple things like forgetting to bring in homework. My son became so depressed here he spoke of suicide. Luckily for this year we found a charter school that seems to actually care about children.Parent Review1y ago - Northern Lehigh Middle School

What Locals Say about Slatington

"We have so many beautiful walking trails that run along the river & along the canals. Most are nice flat trails great for walks or runs with your dog. For those with dogs who love playing fetch, tromping through the water, or for those more extreme we have some great hiking trails on the mountain. This is the perfect place for dog owners. The people in the neighborhood seem to be pleasant & nice with dogs & there owners, as long as you clean up after them. "

"I grew up in Emmaus in the 1970's and always loved the small town community feel. After years of living in Allentown, Lower Macungie and Bethlehem, I got tired of the "city" feel. When looking for a house, I did my homework and knew the Slatington/Palmerton area was for me. I bought my house in Slatington and I am LOVING the area! I walk a lot, so the walkability was important. This area has it! Lots to see! Great history! Unlike Allentown and Bethlehem, I feel VERY safe in this area. If you are a younger, 20-something, you may want to pass. There isn't any "nightlife," meaning clubs, but there are a few great bars to frequent. All in all, it's a great area that has a true community feel to it. I'm loving the area and am VERY happy I bought my house here!"
