N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was bullied constantly and teachers ignored it. We had classes devoted to standardized tests to meet the requirements of the state. I was a lost cause to this school, a B-C student. when I left this place I became a straight A student. The teachers teach their own family and play favorites. The dressed is only enforced on those who were not friends of the kids related to the teachers. No one knew what the hell they were doing at that school. Kids would escape class to chill in the library. Classes would be canceled but the students wouldn't be assigned a new room to go to so they scattered. fights happened almost daily. kids got high in the bathroom. For how small the school was it lacked structure. If you wanted to join a sports team or performing arts late in your school career you would ALWAYS be in the background. The same people getting leading roles in middle school productions were getting leading rolls in high school productions. The school counselor there is of no help. When I was forced to go to her because I had no friends she said maybe I wasn't trying hard enough to make them (I knew every person in that school since elementary school). Basically, I was ecstatic my senior year when I was two weeks in and my mother enrolled me into a cyber school because Mahanoy Area had made me depressed and anorexic. I became an A student when I left and am now on my way to a master's degree. If I never left that place, I would never be where I am today. The only person in that whole school who knows what they are doing is Mr. Tobin, the high school history teacher. "Surprisingly a better place than expected, I have a double-wide triple-tall end unit, With a wrap-around porch that seems fairly safe. The coal region is being inhabited by displaced city dwellers which is adding new life to the area."

"The neighbor walk there pets and clean after them, is a verry clean neighborhood. I lake it. I will recommend the city."

"They don’t have doctors, stores and only one bank. I want to bay a house and they to old and the take to much money to get fix. They don’t have programs. To help fix the houses."

"There are many dog walkers in the neighborhood. The people are friendly and most love animals. It is a good area for kids and animals"

"I lived here 2 yrs. no where to eat. Scary at nite. They do community things a lot and fire trucks around town. Row homes not a pick for me to stay. "

"Don't rely on the crime report because the police are to lazy or don't want the people know the crime rate in this town. They are not REQUIRED to report the crime or make the people aware of it. It is voluntary for the police to notify the local news about arrest or crime issues in the town and for what ever reason they can not take the time to make the public aware of what is happening in their area. Drugs, assaults, murder, attacks, all happen on a regular basis but not reported. Do not move into this area with all the properties falling down and in danger of collapse is common. Several empty houses that are not even boarded up to keep people out. If you buy a house the neighbor is not forced to make repairs even if it causes damage to your own property. Roof leaks are common and the water runs between the walls destroying your home from abandoned properties. You call the boro, but nothing can be done. "
