4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey need to do something about these rude teachers because how they are to parents and these kids is ridiculous and you gonna come across the wrong parent one of these days. Parents should be able to drop their kids off without a teacher having a smart remark or being rude smhParent Review6y ago - Troy High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI feel like it should be public knowledge that this school does not have the capacity to assist children who fall outside the box. If you have a child who is troubled, confused, hurting, trying on different personalities, etc- they will not make any attempt to assist them. My 6th grader was suspended from the beginning of the year (less than a month in) until late January, for carrying implements of self harm. Accused of having a "weapon" on campus, they were kicked immediately out. School work was not willingly provided for me, I had to ask for it explicitly. Counseling/therapy was not suggested or offered, I had to ask the school guidance counselor outright to help me find ways to help my kid. Until I stepped in and demanded assistance, backs were turned. I was forced to attend a hearing, where they not only wouldn't return my belongings (ie: the items that were brought on campus, citing them as "evidence" - though there was no incident to require evidence for) but upon hearing my written statement that my child was in need of support, guidance, etc, opted still to suspend them for over three months. They offered a home tutor, but I'm confused as to how they anticipated any normal family to be able to just drop their day jobs so they could stay home for three months. Luckily for the district, I work from home, so I was able to pull my child out entirely to begin homeschooling. There will not be a day, ever again, that I subject my kid to this district. We've always been a Troy family, and it's always been a struggle with TCSD. (It usually is when your kid just refuses to follow the status quo.) But this sealed the deal. Too many kids to be able to help intimately, at the level a child needs support. Too much of an emphasis on policing instead of teaching. (*You can see on this website when you look at the school's statistics for suspensions, etc, that they are well above the national average.) It's a travesty, because the school itself was well funded- brand new, and beautiful. State of the art, warm, gorgeous. What a pity my child can't learn in that environment. What a pity that moments after getting their first locker, feeling so big and so proud, my child was put out, like the trash, instead of being helped. Instead of showing love, they showed fear. And no school should ever, ever operate in that way.Parent Review6y ago - Check out schools near 169 Hoosick Street.

What Locals Say about Frear Park

"very great transportation with many different types of shopping stores so you don't have to travel far, pretty much any store you need from groceries to hair products, dollar stores, and fast food all right next to each other in a plaza only by walking 5 to 10 minutes away, from home, if you don't feel like driving you can just walk to any sore you need "

"nice neighborhood, very friendly people. very quiet, no problems at all. nearby college and walking distance from restaurants, shopping stores, groceries, etc. You do not need transportation to much being that everything's a walking distance away, so not far at all"

"Side street sidewalks are safe and friendly with plenty of grass space. Frear park is great for dogs in the winter but unfriendly in the warmer months, though there are trails if you’re up for a steep and damp adventure "
