8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children were constantly targeted for their race and disabilities. My child is on the high functioning side of the spectrum and reported disturbing comments about his skin color and race made by students and the school did nothing to correct it. My child reported the teachers would yell at children when they were upset and that would scare them. My children overall who loved their previous school began to say they did not want to go to school. The teachers seem burnt out and frankly stuck in the old ways of doing things. They are not kind or understanding to anyone who presents differently than they do, racially, socioeconomically, and in their ability. I do not recommend this school for anyone who is black, poor, or has disabilities. This school will chew you up and spit you out. They have a bias against poor people and assume they’re ignorant and do not care about their children’s education.Parent Review1mo ago - Jhs 190 Russell Sage

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat school! I had low expectations at first but it's actually a great school. The learning methods are amazing and they prepare you for any test. The teachers are all kind and compassionate although sometimes they leave a bit too much homework but it's nothing you can't deal with, after all, it prepares you for a high school and college environment. Yes, it is stressful sometimes but get used to it. Every school is stressful, procrastination is very common but you manage to get along very well. Now, I am in honors and the students I know are all respectful. I don't know about the other classes if they get bullied. However, I am very sure, that when a kid gets bullied and tells the dean or a teacher, the situation is handled excellently. Yes, the environment is also completely different from elementary schools but ignore it. Kids that age behave differently as they go through change, some are even annoyingly vulgar, don't lose your cool (it's not worth it) Find some good friends who you can trust are responsible and together, you will definitely thrive. Also, don't just focus on studying and not form any friendship because you think they will distract you. I did that in the first year. Awful. I couldn't keep up. With friends, if you have any doubts on a subject, ask for their help. everyone must help each other.Student Review3y ago - Queens Metropolitan High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis was the worse decision my son and I made. I wish we would have never attended this school. Do not expect responses when reaching out to admin regarding your child. The only time they do contact you is when it's too late for anyone to make any changes. Worse school my child could have attended, it completely ruined his outlook on HS.Parent Review3y ago - Check out schools near 85-79 66th Avenue.

"Buses are local. Local trains are about 20 minutes away walking. Or Buses can take you to nearest subway about 10 minutes away. LIRR is also about a 30 minute walk. "

"It’s not getting better, it’s actually worse than it was 25 years ago when I moved here. A lot of homeless people and a lot of air traffic right above my house, I want to move out "

"Family oriented neighborhood but if you rent an apartment at one of these two family homes you are treated as NOT A HOMEOWNER and my son received an unwelcomed experience once the families saw that his father was black. It was so weird experiencing that "

"Farmers market every Sunday on Austin street . Forest hills stadium closeby for music entertainment and concerts. Austin street has tons of restaurants. "

"Easy access to public transportation. There is either a MTA train stop, the Long Island Railroad station or multiple buses that run through as well as around forest hills. The traffic isn’t as bad during peak times of the day and there are police officers who direct and control traffic in most of the busy streets/ intersections. "

"Nothing makes this neighborhood unique , I take that back the some of its nasty dirty residents makes this area unique. They don’t clean after themselves, are rude , and a ton other things that I’ll just leave out."

"I see lots of people walking their dogs here. Although there’s no grassy spots to walk the dogs, the side walks are OK and relatively clean. "
- Phyllus M.

"About 10 minutes walk to the closest 67th Ave subway station. 20 minutes walk to Forest Hills LIRR station, it takes 15 minutes train ride to Penn station. There are only M and R local trains at this station, which is fine most days. And there is Q60 right on Queens Blvd, I would say the commute in this neighborhood is quite convenient if the subways run on time. But it’s the problem of the entire subway system, not only in Rego Park. "

Close to Forest Hills, plaenty of restaurants. Forest Hills LIRR station, 15 mins train ride to Penn Station. Close to Corona Park, there is a beautiful lake and BBQ area, US Open is in the park as well. "

"Rego Park is an ok place to live. There is a ton of new construction so my fear is that it will soon become overcrowded and there will be drain on resources. Single family homes are being torn down and converted into multi unit building which is causes less parking, crowded sidewalks and long lines in the supermarkets and neighboring stores. There are several projects in development now so I can only imagine what things will be once they’re completed."
