7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm astounded by the level of education at this school. My son is in Kindergarten G&T and is already reading. He has light homework which he does independently. He participates in after-school activities M-F and loves every activity/instructor. I always enjoyed school growing up and I'm so glad that PS 11 is fostering the same excitement around learning for my son.Parent Review5mo ago - Jhs 104 Simon Baruch

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a guardian of a current student at this school, this student is being bullied and none of the teachers are doing anything about it. It was already pretty bad that the teachers aren't doing anything about the bullying, but it is worse that the teachers did not let this student tell their family members about it because they say that it will make it a bigger deal. It is not alright for a teacher to tell their student to not call their parent because of it will ruin their school reputation. The teachers dealing with this problem says that they will be able to fix the problem but they didn't do anything. Now this student is afraid to go to school because the bullies threathens to jump this student and call their friends over to also bully and join in. Also, the bullies didn't get in trouble because the teacher said that he did not see it happen. This isn't the first time this student was bullied but the first time, there was at least one teacher that tried to solve the problem but she left so now this student is having trouble solving this new problem. As for learning, teaching, and other parts of reviewing a school, if students don't feel safe then they obviously would not feel motivated or excited about learning and other activities.Parent Review1y ago - James Baldwin School A School For Expeditionary Lr

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son graduated from James Baldwin last year after attending in 11th and 12th grade. It was a warm, welcoming environment with a strong support system, caring staff and an eclectic mix of students. My son was able to regain his self esteem, build relationships with teachers and staff, as well as take on leadership roles. He was exposed to a wide range of writing classes that enabled him to improve in this area dramatically. The school put together a lovely personalized graduation ceremony for the class, demonstrating the bonds formed between staff and students. Advisory or "Crew" was an essential part of the environment as were internships, college credit classes at Baruch and other neighboring colleges. Parent involvement was encouraged and supported by the school community, but it is high school!Parent Review13y ago - Middle 297
