8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a teacher at MS/HS 223 and love it. I teach 6th and 7th grade and I'm very impressed with the professionalism of our staff and leaders. We were recently honored as a Chancellor's Distinguished Dual Language School, and our school has partnered with numerous organizations to bring educational and enrichment opportunities to our students. Some of our partners include Harvard Book Clubs, Blue Engine, iMentor, Software Engineering Pilot (SEP), Robin Hood Foundation, Matisse Foundation, Urban Tech, Edelman Foundation, Arete Education Inc, and ESA's Digital Living Project. Our students engage in rigorous discussions in Socratic Seminars, tackle real-world exemplars in math, design and implement high-level project-based assessments (PBATS) across content areas, and write in multiple coding languages in middle and high school (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Python, Ruby on Rails, etc). As a parent, I plan to send my own children to MS/HS 223, because I have faith that it is a high quality school with amazing opportunities to offer our students.Teacher Review8y ago - Check out schools near 480 E 138th St.

"Great place if you live in the new “gentrified area” it’s very different. Walking distance from the 6 train. 10 minutes walk-in. To the 4-2 -5 train "
- Alejandra R.

"This area is full of strong minded tough Bronx raised kids. Before all this gentrification started happening It was a very dangerous and poor area. We’ve learned from then till now. Respect is very much needed in this area (culturally/ lifestyles)"
- NURA M.

"DO NOT MOVE HERE. It is loud, people are messy, and nobody has any respect for those who need to sleep. I saw a lady literally throw her plastic cup on the floor. ST Mary's park is nice but its always dirty in the morning because people don't know how to clean up after themselves. Its just all in all a crappy neighborhood to move into. Safe yourself paying over 2 grand a month to live in a "nice" apartment in a bad part of the bronx "

"Neighborhood is very desolate but close to Randall’s island and the city. Its changing more and more as new constructions are coming up every other month. "

"Uh what community events make my neighborhood special? If drug users and drunks gathered by the train station or the bodega count as an event then I guess that’s what makes the community special. "
- Mtziggy

"I've lived in this neighborhood for about 18 years and things are getting worse with drugs, and crime. Very loud outside at night until 5am or later sometimes."

"Every summer there are festivals and events for kids. Usually there is events that are organized were kids can get free costumes for Halloween and free gifts for Christmas. The neighborhood has its bad but it has a lot of good things for kids to have fun and make memories. The neighborhood definitely never forgets about kids. "
