6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe rating by Great Schools.org does not accurately represent how amazing this school is. Kate Smith is a Platinum level SEL school. This means the educators at this school not only educate each grades academic standards but also focuses on the whole child’s well being teaching them social emotional skills. This is one of the only elementary schools in WCSD that is also a Governor STEM designated school. The majority of staff members have worked at this site multiple years and know and love the families in the community. Also most teachers have a masters level degree. This school for the last few years has steadily increased closing the achievement gap as well which is not reflected in this schools score. I have 3 kids that attend this school. They have consistently grown each year and receive individualized attention. Just because this is a Title 1 school does not mean that it is a poor or under performing school. I would invite whoever makes the rating for Great Schools.org to go personally to see the amazing things that happen at this school prior to rating it. Since this is the 7th time I have tried to leave a truthful review, we will see if it finally posts to shed some facts about this wonderful school.Parent Review3y ago - Procter R Hug High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFirst of all the traffic is horrendous and the busses situation is terrible second there is a severe lack of chairs just stools with no lumbar support. Then there is the worst lunch lines, I wasn't able yo eat most of the time. Lastly the halls are packed.Student Review1y ago - Sparks Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attends Sparks Middle School as an eighth grader. Though this is his first year there, he has made many friends, and gets along well with his teachers. His first term progress report was well above average. The staff are always available when I need to call and his teachers give progress reports when my son neglects his homework. (Yes, he is a teenager and does get lazy once in a while), But his teachers make sure the stays on top of his assignments. I would definitely recommend this school.Parent Review11y ago - Check out schools near 973 Flatcar Ln.

"Sparks is like Reno, slightly quieter and not as run down. we still have everything they do. including events, fishing, concerts, movie theaters, and shopping outlets. depending on where you are located you might be able to even see both downtown Sparks, and Reno. as well the mountains and hills. I can tell you about all the crime, the homeless, the traffic.. which is clearly evident. but there is so much beauty as well.. wonderful architectural examples, and even parks and museums... "

"We have an AMAZING Elementary school a couple blocks away that is one of the best in the area. The staff are so wonderful and there are always great events happening for kids. We have a library not far away that’s also wonderful for all members of the family. Lovely neighborhood and neighbors. Grocery stores, shopping, Doctor offices and even urgent care and hospital is close. The Marina is a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends. It’s an outdoor lovers dream just 5 minutes from my porch to parking. Very convenient place to live with a lot of people who take pride in making Sparks so great."
