3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm not sure I'm experienced enough to be writing this. I'm a freshman so I'm not completely sure how it is, but this is just my experience from 2 months and a bit from others. The school got the National Blue RIbbion in 2013, which seems pretty good but I'm not that sure now. That was 10 years ago and the rating as of now is a 3/10. Not exactly sure what happened but I've heard from other reviews that there was an administration change that messed up the school. I'm assuming it made the necessary learning for school go down the drain. The school is pretty good for an experience though, plenty of sports and clubs to join and the students are pretty friendly. Some teachers don't really teach though, they just hand out work to complete, which isn't helping us prepare for college. Safety is all right, but there have been a few fights before. We have student councilors to help us but some don't seem motivated to do so. What the school needs to do is to focus on learning and giving more opportunities to help us really prepare for college. Many kids from Washington Middle School or High School are leaving for better schools with better learning opportunities, specifically High Tech in Secaucus and County Prep in Jersey City. They have a better rating then Harrison and seem better at teaching than here. I'd somewhat recommend this school just for an experience of the fun stuff but not for the learning experience.Student Review5mo ago - Lincoln No. 3 Elementary School

"Harrison is only 1 square mile, Transportation not needed to get to the downtown area, with everything within walking distance. Buses and trains easily accessible to cammute to the big cities, Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken, NewYork City, etc. It is a very diverse community with a varying range of professional and blue collar inhabitants,. International shops and restaurants can be found and with the southern part of town evolving through gentrification with higher end apartment buildings and business establishments opening up in place of abandoned industrial buildings. Red Bulls professional soccer stadium is attracting an increase in younger professionals. Despite the desirable aspects, traffic is a nightmare when games are scheduled. You can literally crawl faster as the streets have not been updated to support the increased traffic flow. Overall the diversity, close proximity to major highways and cities and access to all modes of transportation make it a desirable community for many."
