3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have three children in this school and am very pleased with our experience here. I have seen the support given to both gifted students for my oldest daughter, and for children with behavioral/emotional difficulties for my son, firsthand - and continue to be impressed with the efforts this school makes to include all students in achieving academically, no matter what their abilities or challenges. The educational staff involves parents in their childrens' educations. The school is up-to-date and a pleasant atmosphere to visit. The kids like school, trust and enjoy their teachers, and issues are always promptly addressed - and the teachers are absolutely top-notch. My son's K teacher, in particular, was a wonderful woman who went out of her way to help my ADHD son excel both behaviorally and academically. It's evident that teachers in this school truly care about their students and go the extra mile. My only complaint about this school (and it's more the district) is that their administration staff leaves much to be desired and there seem to be communication issues.Parent Review10y ago - Gloucester City High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageComing from smaller school districts, we absolutely love everything Gloucester City Schools have to offer our daughter. They get more funding for things like extra curricular activities and clubs that enrich and continue to challenge students. Our daughter is a straight A student and loves going to school here!Parent Review6mo ago - Mary E. Costello Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOf course, this school offers opportunities to their students, but that doesn’t mean that this is a 5 star school. Personally, I haven’t had a good experience with this school mentally or even interacting with some of the teachers. I’ve witnessed teachers discriminate against students due to race, religion, and gender. Once a teacher made an insensitive comment about a Muslim girl in class saying that she expected her to be “quiet and obedient” due to her religious beliefs. They are too strict on the dress-code. I have seen girls get dress coded for not wearing baggy shirts due to the fact that they have a larger chest. My friend got in trouble for wearing tights. When I got dress coded, the teacher told my mother that I am distracting the boys and not being a “proper young lady”. I have seen this school completely disregard students emotions because they don’t feel comfortable helping. Kind of like that one time that a boy was inappropriately touching himself in math class and when several girls came forward with what they saw, Mr. O, (the previous principal) didn’t do anything because he thought it was awkward to correct this. This year my English teacher said the f slur several times while reading a book, then she made a student say it even though he verbally rejected doing so. This doesn’t mean that I haven’t experienced good things with this school. I appreciate many of the teachers here and they’re very kind to me, it’s just that the ones in higher positions are more detached and indifferent to their students issues.Other Review1y ago - Check out schools near 624 Hunter St.
