3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is where I sent all four of my children, and it has been the best school we could have ever asked for. My youngest son struggled in middle school, and we had sent him to a non traditional high school for a better experience. His first comment upon coming home from his first day at Discovery High School was "MOM! It was great, I felt cared about just the way I did at Startown!" When the high water mark for excellent education is your elementary school, that is really telling. I would like to thank the excellent staff for a wonderful experience for my children. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a current student at Maiden Middle, I would say the overall experience is pretty good. The teachers are great and most students, including me, grew a close relationship with most of the teachers. My personal view of learning is that I am motivated to learn, because I was more in the advanced classes, but I have seen a few students who just don't try. At the end of the year the school holds a award ceremony honoring all the athletic kids, A/B Honor Roll, A Honor Roll, Math Award (8th Grade), Top Cat Award (Also known as Principal's Choice Award), and Academic Awards for every subject. I think it's great that students get to be honored for their accomplishments throughout the year, and I think it really helps them see what they are capable of. My experience as a 7th Grader was great, and I can't wait to see what 8th Grade has waiting for me!Student Review10mo ago

"Newton North Carolina is a beautiful city. There’s a lot of old charm as well as new modern things, great restaurants and places to shop. Newton is a small town so you get that small town charm. It is considered safe in this area. "

"It’s both safe and nearby to local shopping, I-40, and 16S that now takes approximately 35 mins. to get to Charlotte. "

"The neighborhood is beautiful and the houses are gorgeous. Neighbors are super friendly. My sister lives here and I hope to find a house in the neighborhood as well. "

"This neighborhood is unique because it’s not too far from shops, restaurants and downtown, but it’s just far enough to where the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. Plus a lot of times you can see deers and rabbits in your own backyard and the neighborhood actually very close to a 3 mile nature trail."

"Newton is great - friendly people, small town charm, but just minutes to Hickory. Townhomes in Newton are hard to come by, but snatch them up while you can!"
