4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is poorly funded. The building is in need of a major update, and it’s very crowded. There are some nice and caring teachers who work hard and do care, but academically, this school didn’t provide a focused environment. My oldest, who has a high IQ was barely prepared for community college despite taking honors classes, daily parental oversight, no behavior problems, and an educated family environment. Many students are from low socioeconomic situations, poor home lives, and that contributes to the overall rigor of learning environment. The previous principal really did try and cared about his students, I’ll give him that. But you can only do so much with low funding. We moved to a different district for our youngest out of state as we wanted better for him and the difference in resources and quality in both teachers and students is not even comparable. Look elsewhere for your kid.Parent Review4mo ago - West Clayton Elementary

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy family has several children that have gone through this school. My oldest niece had a wonderful experience here, but at the time, Mrs. Barnes was not the principal and she had teachers that cared about her education. She excelled in school and has since gone into early college and will have an Associates Degree before she is 18 years old. However, since then, the school has progressively gotten worse. I honestly wish I would have read the reviews before ever deciding to send my child here. He is extremely behind based on their testing methods-- and Lord knows what those even are. 2 of the other children in my family have transferred to a different school and it has been the best decision for them, however, they are also EXTREMELY behind compared to the other kids in their classes. It has been extremely sad seeing them at night struggle to make it through their homework. It takes them hours to do and according to their new teachers, it should be stuff that they already know.Parent Review1y ago - Clayton Middle

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a nice school overall and would recommend, because although people are talking about bullying and fighting and stuff like that, ya'll need to realize that that's normal for that type of stuff to occasionally occur as we are middle schoolers going through phases of figuring ourselves out. The teachers, for the most part, are nice and work well with us kids when needed too.Student Review4mo ago - Check out schools near 43 Scuppernong Way.

"Nothing!! Neighbors & neighborhood do not do anything!! Most neighbors are not very friendly. We have neighbors that do not keep dogs on a leash and just allow them to roam around all day long. Now I can’t even walk my dogs anymore and I use to do it every day sometimes twice a day. Now unable to do it at all because my dogs freak out everytime dogs that are not in a leash approach us and they almost fight every time. It is extremely annoying!!! "
