Plymouth High School is awesome, teachers are great

We have twins in the Young 5's program in Ms. Sarkesian's class. She is great: very bubbly with the kids and engaging with parents. 18 kids in her class; she has a dedicated paraprofessional as well...and had a student teacher for the first semester so 3 people for 18 kids! Lots of volunteer opportunities in the class, whether helping with parties or daily readings by "mystery" parents. She sends weekly updates and notifies us if either of our kids are having "issues". Mr. Hill, the principal, is not stuck in his office...he's out on the grounds, walking the halls, at after school events, etc. School is just about finished with a major addition of a dedicated new gym. Only detractions from the school are it's parking arrangements...there's not enough of it. Dropping off kids/picking them up is tough to do in "the loop" on Ann Arbor Trail, with traffic backing up in both directions after school (My wife did have one disrespectful incident with one of the loop ladies, but this was a one-time event). Fortunately, we live close enough to walk on nice days, and the school district provides multiple crossing guards at the busy Sheldon/Penniman intersection. There is a bridge at the busy corner right by the school (have some concerns about it's metal structure directly below power lines). The school requires background checks to chaperone field trips...but interestingly does not for volunteer opportunities at the school. Overall, I'd give this school a top rating!

this school is such trash one time I was eating the school lunch and on god, there was mold in the cheese and the teachers are so rude except for a few. ps I'm currently going to this school and i am in 7 grade

As a former Salem student, I can honestly say that I will never allow my future children to step foot in this school. This is a school that deeply prioritizes the over achieving, and ignores everyone else. Teachers and administrators shame students with lower grade point averages rather than helping them improve. Vast majority of the student body feels forgotten, invisible and helpless. A very large amount of the student population has severe mental health issues, for which they provide few resources. However, Salem does have an incredible counseling team. Sadly, they are painfully overwhelmed, and finding someone to talk to is virtually impossible during busy months. Several faculty members are highly unprofessional, and complain about their jobs to students. Majority of their complaints centered around their dismay towards the Salem principal, and their compensation. Some teachers had so much social drama going on it felt like watching a reality show. If you are looking for a school where your child will feel forgotten, unintelligent, and depressed Salem is the place for you! Anyone moving to the Plymouth-Canton area should factor in the price of private high school. (I would recommend St. Catherine's, Divine Child and Father Gabriel Richard)

I graduated in 2023, and this school definitely prepares you for college. P-CEP offers a wide variety of advanced and AP courses, which is helpful. However, it's incredibly easy to feel lonely at this school because of how many students there are. With almost 7,000 students, it's difficult to retain friendships unless you're a part of the same club. Never expect the ability to have lunch with your friends unless you're both in some special program that guarantees it. Throughout my time at P-CEP, at least one student has taken their own life almost every year, and there have been multiple gun and bomb threats that have led to lockdowns. Overall, good school for learning and college preparation, but not so great at providing students with mental and emotional support.
