6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth of our children attended Kenowa Hills Central Elementary. Our youngest child is now finishing 5th grade during the 2021-2022 school year so clearly, this review is long overdue. Here are our “Top 5” reasons for this well-earned “”5-star” review.1. Teachers. The teachers at Central Elementary are passionate, student-centered, and in the teaching profession for all the right reasons. And at the top of this list, they passionately care about and love children.2. Leadership. Principals Dr. Horner is an award-winning school leader that relocated to West Michigan to be closer ti family. After a super-successful career in Chicago Public Schools, Dr. Horner has quickly helped lead Central Elementary to the prestigious destination of being an “Award School” for academic performance by the Michigan Department of Education. 3. Parent and Community Engagement. The learning community at Central Elementary values and engages countless partnerships in ensuring all students’ success. They exemplify the notion that it “takes a village” and make it meaningful and VALUED to participate in our children’s educational experience. 4. Facilities. The entire Central Elementary learning community is freshly modernized with 21st Century upgrades. The classrooms, extended learning spaces, media center, playground facilities, gymnasium, and literally every square foot of space in the building is renovated and modern. I find it hard to imagine a better equipped elementary learning community in Wear Michigan.5. Academics. Kenowa Hills Central Elementary had phenomenal curricular programming. Students receive core curriculum that is second to NONE - in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Furthermore, students receive weekly instruction in Spanish, STEM, Music, Art and Physical Education. Finally, the True Success curriculum teaches students in Kindergarten through 5th grade key life skills (respect, courage, compassion, grit, etc). As you can see, Central Elementary is an absolute gem of a learning community. We have felt blessed to have our children in this school and can not imagine a better experience for prospective families.Parent Review2y ago - Kenowa Hills High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLet me talk about why would this school could have a downfall with their circularium. People could explain do irrelevant thing that could just do nothing about these problems. There is just a bunch of other just don't want to do nothing but just do no activity can benefit somewhat their education. Other would just do nothing or just vape while doing not healthy things could actually help them.Student Review11mo ago - Kenowa Hills Middle School

"The neighborhood's walkability is what attracted my family. We can fulfill most of our needs without leaving the neighborhood, and mainly use or bikes or feet for transportation. We're also near four bus lines that can get us all around the city, and have either bike infrastructure or side streets that can get us downtown without ado. "

"We love Alger Heights: we're in walking distance to almost everything we need, including multiple grocery stores, a hardware store, restaurants, library, post office, parks, and more. Neighbors tend to be friendly and homes well-kept, and the neighborhood safe and quiet. We're near multiple bus lines and an easy bike ride downtown. "
