2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNorthwest is the Medical Career Magnet School for the county, is also the zone school for this the area. Do not be mislead by the title MAGNET. The majority of the zone students coming out of elementary schools unable to get into magnet programs of their choice is a factor. That's important to remember because the MAP measurements could be skewed to read better because of the presents of magnet students, or worst because there isn't enough of them to carry the school over the expected percentage of what would be considered an institution of the highest degree of well educated students, as expected for a suburban middle school. Diversity is getting worst...not better. The involuntary segregation is really no ones fault by design. The area is primarily made up of middle income parents doing well enough to have a home, or apartment in the area, but have better plans for their funds such as a college education, moving to another house, or a really great retirement. BCPS is stuck on a model that keeps the students from realizing small joys such things as a choice. Northwest does it's best to teach all students the required format for middle school, but in my opinion BCPS could do more to support the students at this school. The so-called magnet lottery is not fair draw- don't have direct proof...just a feeling. Teachers everywhere are being under paid, schools are under staff (preferred level). Keep the faith that, All will come out alright for the student. Like the future, the work is their responsibility.Parent Review1y ago - New Town High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is straight up garbage, wouldn’t recommend it to anybody. First of all the teachers don’t care or listen to the students whatsoever, this is one of the reasons why the students don’t respect the teachers. There are a lot of fights and you got people who wanna act tough and stuff, but in reality they not about it like that. The staff don’t care about the students. Nobody at this school cares about anyone else but themselves!Other Review11mo ago - Lyons Mill Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI pulled my child from the school because each time I had a concern about something the administrators seemed to be dismissive and also didn’t pay attention. My daughter bought up a concern about a para that worked there and not only did they not ask my child what happened but NEVER properly addressed the issue.Secondly for them to walk children in a large group across a very busy intersection is dangerous, even if there’s crossing guards there. Dismissal is a circus. I wasn’t impressed by the school and I DO NOT recommend itParent Review5mo ago - Check out schools near 9303 Leigh Choice Ct #57.
