5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are new to this school & so far opinions are mixed. We came from a school where PTA was a big part of every day life & here we have yet to know when any PTA general membership meetings are held. We like the school dances that have been held, but the Harvest Fest left a lot to be desired. We don't even really know what the PTA does & that is a big disappoint to us as I was on the PTA board for several years at our old school out of state. Our child's teacher seems to do a good job & wants the kids to learn & gives them opportunities to prove they know the curriculum. She is young, but sometimes that is a positive with more energy & a fresh way to look at things. We are concerned that maybe this school isn't "strong" enough, but we also came from an IB World school (public magnet), where academics were pushed, sometimes a bit too much for elementary level. We miss having a Spanish language class, but having Band is a nice trade for now. Overall I would say: academically it is much softer than what we are used to and the PTA really needs to step it up for next year.Parent Review13y ago - Patuxent High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile there are many good teachers at this school, there are quite a few that demean students. The Vice Principal disregards parents/students concerns to gain whatever little acceptance he can get from teachers. During our initial interaction, I felt as if I was speaking to a brick wall. It bothers me that there are frequent fights at this school, yet when I spoke to administration, I was told that fights rarely occur. I have recordings from both of my children that attend PHS. Academically, this school is great, but there needs to be significant improvement with bullying. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience with this school has been a frustrating one.Trying to get help for my son has been a series of hoops to jump through. If you call the school with a question everyone is always in a meeting and cannot answer your question. As a parent I was treated poorly by certain staff members. The school is more concerned with checking off their boxes on forms than caring about a concerned mother or the well being of her son. I was treated me poorly and I felt totally disrespected by certain staff members.Parent Review9y ago

"It’s very spacious. The houses are lovely. The community is great and safe. The kids are close together. The school district is awesome. There are local stores and easy access to the schools right out side of the neighborhood. The neighbors and others in the neighborhood are very helpful and welcoming. "

"We have a restaurant at the end of the main road which is also a marina, boat dock, and private pool and beach. Also we have a playground back in white sands as well. With swings slides and a public trash can. "
