5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a student at Benjamin Franklin. I started at this school when I was in Pre-K, and I am now in the 9th grade at Lusher School. When I attended this school before Hurricane Katrina it was a magnet school meaning you had to take a test. After Katrina the school was obliged to allow any student in without taking a test. The teachers at Benjamin Franklin do not care about the child's education, they do not have a great disciplinary system at all and they just student do whatever they choose at this school. That is why I decided to leave for 8th grade at Lusher School. I will say that the only good thing about Benjamin Franklin is that it goes from Pre-K to 8th grade. I f you want your child to go to an extraordinary school send them to Lusher Charter School.Other Review9y ago

"Up and coming. I feel safe and really like the area. I’ve lived here for a few years and for the most part people are friendly and all look out of one another. Animal friendly and quiet. Several schools and close to shopping, restaurants and 15 min from downtown. "

"This is an old neighborhood that has a bad rep, but it’s getting better and better every year. The houses in this neighborhood have tons of history and old New Orleans “charm” that you won’t find anywhere else. Give it a chance.. you won’t won’t be disappointed and you’ll end up with a sh*t load of equity in your property within the next five years! "

"This is located in the worst area of the lower ninth ward. Very isolated, no traffic, no street lights, no police presence. "
